I've been working on a new track, and my ears really enjoy it. It is a work in progress, and is maybe 45 seconds shorter than the ultimate product.
It's quite mellow and meloncholy; i'm pleased with how well you can imagine the emotional state.
I have my structure all planned out, I just have to write the notes. That fact alone is quite a rarity for me, but also an advancement in songwriting!
Please tell me what you think. the expected genre is downtempo electronic. "I Mean Something" (also found Here )

Hi pal!
I was just coming by to drop my opinion on the Aeon FluX movie. Then my fortunate eyes found your post.
My comments:
The synth (0:25) should be a bit more scattered to give it more depth. That would give it a more dreamy fairytale sound.
The change (0:49) is very nice. But it needs more filling, it sounds like an ambient pauze.
The transition at (1:00) is messy, it doesn't sound nice.
Play some more with panning, it gives more feeling as well.
I find it to sound very promissing.
It's nice to see more music from you, I love your stuff!
I hope you like my latest experiment.

There's a sound that sounds like a mechanical slicer. It's kinda jarring. I would also add more panning too.
Other than that I liked the song, very BoC of ya.

thanks guys, glad you dug it. I've already been adding more.
some good advice fliq, i'm gonna change that first synth, and really add depth to the thing and get some sounds out wide.
though I'm not sure what the metal grinding sound referred to might be... maybe the granulized drum loop accompaniement during the 'chorus'?
i figure i'll write til the end, then come back up and 'shuffle the cards', so to speak, and blend the sections. debussy's my hero!
now fliq! your experiment was very pleasant! some mindbending effects on your synths, they become real ear candy. for further development i offer these suggestions -if you add more texturally/vertically, to give some further depth and premise, i would add something that doesn't grab my attention. simply because i wouldn't want my ears to miss what you've got, but some padding might give the leads (bouncy synth and brainsplitting synth) some environment. you clearly have some kind of chord progression to branch out with aanyway. OR something that interacts with the leads... yeeaah that'd be cool!
-the drumlick at the end is sweet--real jazzy. although consider your desired drum setting, it really feels like a groovy jazz drummer, especially with the perididdles on the hi-hat. I'd adjust the snare to fit that drum setting--fuller body and very natural. i like the kit very very much.
what SW are you using?

I've updated the song; it went in a direction I really didn't anticipate, and could still change dramatically before I really think it's done.
But, let me know what you think; I rather like it!

Its hard to comment on someone who has so much more experience then myself and also I just think a track passes a point where feedback turns into personal preference...BUT I will do my best.
-Melodies where out of control. Very melodic song and pleasant to listen to. -Drum track fits well with it. (tho I wasn't really into those claps at the 3/4 mark .. but after a few measures they seem to fit in fine.) -Nice ending, works very well.. very nice build up. Like I said above.. that 3/4 part is really cool. Nice final build up. I think the drums could be tweaked just a little bit to give it a less "80's" feel. You have so much energy at that point.. and I think you could get more out of it with a slightly less repetitive drum pattern. -Their where points I wanted to hear a bit more clarity. The drums are awesome but that granulized/filter that you put on the main chorus is a bit much at points. I really wanted to hear your theme with a stronger less filtered syth.
I really like it and look forward to final version, make sure you update it right when render it!

me likes it too! I liked how you crunched up the tamborine. Cool synth zounds. Bass is sweet too.

nice to see an update
I like the bassline and the sound of it (I think I never heard a bassline in your tracks before, but I'm probably wrong ) All the melody and background synths flow very nicely together and the rhythm section keeps everything moving

thanks y'all. this song just flows with personal expression. it really is the most literal translation of a certain mood that I've ever accomplished.
I used Fruity Loops, and a buttload of different VSTs and samples.
actually a 'TV On The Radio' song inspired the semi-cheesy house style at the end.
The main harmony synth sound is just so rich and full of tone, like you could swim in it I love it.
oh and stefan, go listen to Distract The Eye of Providence, my favorite bassline...
You know those moments as an artist when you hear something new, and you know it's gonna influence you so profoundly and you know your style will change because of it?
Well, I'll just say this: I discovered My Bloody Valentine - Loveless this week.
