Tyvek suit found and ?on envelopes
    #571430 -

Many hardware/home improvement stores sell complete suits made out of tyvek. They can be found near the dropcloths and painting supplies. They are sturdy enough to be washed and reworn and only cost 10-15 bux. A truly anal (but thats good in this hobby) cultivator could get a couple of them to wear in the lab and grow room, thus negating all the things like trichoderma, etc that cover our even freshly bathed bodies. A pair of gloves and a face mask would be the ultimate protection when used with the suit. The suits are intended to protect the user from chems coming in, but it works both ways and would keep your dead skin, surface contams etc in the suit away from your cultures.

They could also be a good cheap source for all the home made filters you want.

Now a question, I've been hearing about tyvek envelopes. I don't think I've ever seen a tyvek envelpe, or I didn't recognize it as such. Where can they be found, are they expensive etc etc.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

And just for silliness, I just got the funniest idea of taking a suit and sealing all the openings, head hand and foot holes. You just made a body shaped, breathable spawn bag. Fill with substrate and innoculate. Walla, a scare crow of fruitable mycelia! Imagine a body shaped scarecrow of colonized wheatstraw, with hundreds of cubes growing from it! Man that would be cool! Reminds me of some of the ancient shroom-man cave paintings I've seen. Maybe this isn't a new silly ass idea. Maybe the ancients were much more advanced than us?

Any big office supply store has Tyvek envelopes. The Tyvek overalls, surgical mask & hair cover cap are a good thing. Cheap to. Better clean & safe than contaminated. SixTango -- out.

I use tyvek as a replacement for polyfil. I will post when I am further along (have 4 pint cases currently incubating). Seems to reseal behind the needle. I don't use tape after I innoculate.

I've never used it as a filter, but am somewhat familiar with the material. I really don't think it reseals behind the needle. I don't think I would trust that.

I used Tyvek as a filter disk. So far (2 weeks) all my jars are contamination free. Had never had such good success.

I PCed the jars with the lids screwed on tight and Tyvek in place. After cooling, I innoculated through the Tyvek and then taped over the Innoculation hole.
