I.D. Request, WA
    #5731375 - 06/09/06 04:42 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Ok, this is my first time hunting so don't be hatefull if I picked something that wasn't even close.

I live in Spokane, WA and it has been raining the past couple days, even a light sprinkle today, so I decided that maybe I should give hunting a shot finally and drove by myself to a field. This field had some pine trees over head and a river running next to it.

I believe that I have found 3 different types of mushrooms their was hopeing to get an I.D. on them.

First Mushroom is completely white, with pink gills. The cap was easily detachable. I don't believe that it is active, but I thought that it was a very unique mushroom and wanted to hopefully get an I.D.

I know the pics aren't the best, but I took multiple pictures, and these are the best I could do with what I have to work with.

Here is a picture of underneath the mushroom

Spore print turned out Pink

Here are some pictures of the next set of mushrooms. These ones are rather small, maybe an 1½" being the largets, and they grew in close groups with each other. Light Golden brown on the top. When I cut one of them down the middle and split it into 2, the gills do not appear to be attached. Stems are solid. Spore printing now.

Some pics of the tops.

Some pics of the stems.

And a cut away pic of one of them.

These next set of mushrooms where found about 20-30 feet from those the last set of mushrooms, but these mushrooms were a little more spread out. When I pick them, their stems would splinter as you will see. The gills appear to be attached. These ones grew to about 2-2½" and their caps were more broad. Golden top (little bit darker then the last set). Stems are solid, but splinter easy, caps do not easily remove. Spore printing now.

your pictures are too blurry and far away for ID......the white one second one down with the pink gills is probably an Agaricus and has spores that are chocolate brown not pink so (EDIT: if you can get a pic of the spore print .....if pink than probably Pluteus)..... that is a perfect pic angle for ID just much closer and clearer.....cannot move the camera whatsoever and for shot for example take ten quik shots each steadier than the other and keep the clear one.....do that for each shot......and check your setting on camera first usually just pushing a button or two...

Agaricus are the same type of mushrooms found in the markets and on pizza called white, italians, browns, Potabella, and others are all Agaricus so a good shroom to learn if hunting for the table tho some are poisonous

you didnt say if found on grass, dirt, wood, etc.....were they directly under the pine for instance but Agaricus (or Pluteus) should give you a good starting point for reference from here

the pic directly below that shrooms on rim of plate yellow to brown colored shrooms is most probably the 'Fairy Ring' shroom Marasmius oreades but they're all too blurry so dont eat any these or else could kill you if wrong but look them up.......

none of ones I mentioned are active but can be just as rewarding (if ID is correct at all) to find with a little knowledge because alot of people in your position might feel like they've come up empty........me ....Id yell Eureka

Thank you ShroominDole, I most definitely appreciate your information and will take it to heart. I do look at this as Eureka because now I have just that much more knowledge from my first hunt that I can put towards another.

The numerous amounts of kinds of mushrooms that you run across in one hunt is just amazing.
