TEMP Problem

Ok, so i am doing bulk monotubs that are 50qt+
So the temp has been below the 70s and thats fine, because it is easy for me to keep them up to temp.
But next week, the weather people said its gonna feel like summer.
its going to be 86-90+ here next week, and i have no way to cool the room down.
Anyone have any suggestions? Will my cubes survive and fruit? This will be some incubation and then after that fruiting. My sub is basically ready to go and i just have to wait for it to knit back up and penetrate the casing layer.

i HEAR that as long as the temp stays stable, it may work (keep in mind some strains grow outside where its really hot)... thought i donno..
i would DEFINATELY do some kind setup where you can put whatever in the fridge for 24 hours before fruitng, as this will be a big nescesity when trying to fruit in higher temps.
But it may not work at all, i dont claim to be the expert. :-D

I've grown indoors during 80 to 90 degree weather...
and they grew just fine.
Last summer in fact.

My fully colonized spawn bags are in the fridge as i type.
I need to spawn them in the next day or two to make room, they have been in there for about a month now.
The current strain is PE.
I'll give it a go. Thanks much for the comments.
And roadkill did you have your AC on during this 80-90 degree weather? Cause i have no AC its going to be like an oven.

no bro...
I just opened the doors and windows up for cross ventilation.
which cooled things down quite a bit.
then stuck a box fan on the side the shade was on.

Ok, currently my room is about 90 degrees.
The outside temp is 95F
And i have no AC. I have 2 doubletubs in here that are 50qts if i start fanning my room,
My room is going to be sucking in that 95F heat.
Do you think its still going to be ok?
Its a major heatwave around here.

If you have a freezer, freeze water in several plastic containers. You can then rotate the jugs from your freezer to your FC and back as needed. RR

i'm curious now too. how would a person cool a doubletub in extreme heat since it can only be opened every so often?

I am guessing roger meant surround the DT with the ice jugs.
I got so much ventalation in my room right now.
Oh and they are actually colonizing the casing layer right now, but they already punched thru the casing at some spots after only a DAY!
i'll probably fruit them tomorrow.

I know you would probly do this if you had it to do but my basement is a wonderful 78 year round and one of my friends uses a crawl space under his house when it get to hot. I know this might not be available to you but just thought to mention it just in case. Also in you have a small closet with nothing else in it the ice jugs and a small fan works well too, cools the whole closet, not a great idea but it might help

No, I meant to put the ice inside the DT. Get imaginative. The jug can hang from a wire if the whole tub is covered with substrate. Don't put the ice on the outside or you'll stunt the mycelium in that location. You can open fruiting chambers whenever you want. The more the better in fact as long as you maintain humidity. RR

I posted this to a similar thread, but this one is more relevant to my scenario..
I will be doing my first grow in years, starting in about a week. This time I have a fully automated setup with aquarium heaters in dual tubs, humidified air flow, etc. But now I'm living in Arizona high up in the mountains, at about 6500 feet. It gets to about 90 during the day and as low as 40 at night. My heaters will take care of the cold nights, but I don't have an air conditioner so I'm concerned about the day. I was thinking of doing some kind of triple tub setup where the outside tub, or tray rather, has an exposed surface of water around the edge, using evaporation to cool the inner tubs. Do you guys think this will work? Any suggestions? If it doesn't work will I be ok growing at 90 degrees? I'm starting with rye and spawning into hpoo.
I read above that Roadkill said it was no problem, but it's actually 90 in my little closet, and probably higher outside around 2pm. I already have some good ventilation otherwise it would be sweltering. Still should be ok? I guess I could drop some cash on a evaporative cooler. What is the most crucial time to keep it cool?

The mounains of northern arizona are very dry during those hot days. Try laying a wet towel over the outside of the tub and as the water evaporates, it will draw heat out of the interior of the tub. RR

Yeah, really dry. I'll try a bunch of stuff like that and post back here. I think if I just drape a towel it will be dry within an hour.
