can mushrooms be grown using...
    #5730839 - 06/09/06 01:53 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Can any non-active edible mushrooms be grown using the same methods as described in the pf tek:syringe: for psilocybe growing (if any are known information as to changes in the substrate temp humidity etc would be great). I'm completely fascinated with mushrooms in general, I am an experienced mushroom hunter, a first time grower and am very eager to explore the world of mycology further. Any insight is appreciated

The amount of mushrooms growing is proportional to the amount of substrate. This means that a pf cake will only yield you ~50 grams of mushrooms. While this is enough when you are growing P. cubensis, you would need to prepare many, many cakes in order to get a worthwhile amount of edible mushrooms. Thus, there are better methods for growing them, check out the sticky thread.

true, still they do fairly nice on pfcakes and you could also use the shredded up cake
as spawn for a bulk sub such as straw for example.

I agree with Anno, for edibles, it is better to use other methods.. With edibles, you want a lot!
