I have 170 litter mono tub and it had plenty of moisture in it but i would like more FAE so if i hooked up my cool mist to one of the holes where i had polyfil and just ran it 24/7 with no water does this sound good?

Why not just use an air pump?

HUBSonDUBS my biggest question is why? You want moist FAE's as these are mushrooms we are growing! If your getting pools of water or water building up under the substrate (runoff) then you have too much moisture but up to that mushrooms love wet conditions much more than most people ever realize.

HYPHAE- Yea i was just figuring it would be too much. I'm tryn to follow your pinning strategy as close as possible I put a hygrometer in my monotub what should the RH be whole the casing layer is colonizing, after i put it in light and then when I see pins? Thanks for the help.

This is not how it usually works here. These are forums, not private messages. Why bump a thread for only one person to respond?

During colonization of the casing layer, humidity is not relevant because the cased substrate should be enclosed in a tray with zero air exchanges per hour. Cover with foil to achieve this. Enough gasses will leak out around the edges of where you've sealed the foil around the tray. It is not necessary to use a monotub for this stage.
When you remove the foil and place in fruiting conditions, you want around the 90% range with cased substrates. The casing will supply the humid microclimate to provide nearly 100% humidity right at the surface where the primordia form. Once the fruits are growing, you can reduce to around 85%, but many growers keep it at 90%. Be sure to allow plenty of air exchange once you expose to fruiting conditions. Remember; full colonization, increased air exchange, light, and a steady rate of evaporation from the casing layer or substrate are all pinning triggers. None is more important than any of the others. All must be adjusted in harmony for best performance. Hope this helps. RR

Exactly, it's the coincidence of these factors that is really the key to your highest yields (pinset).
