so check it out.
about 4 months ago, i did about 16 casings, all with beautiful flushes. everyday i woke up to a new fantastic personal yeild for me and my friends. during this time, i decided to cut off and go for delf by making a spore print.
i only made one and had it kept in a safe, sterile place. sterility was a serious practice for me.
until...
i did something very stupid.
what i did was i took the entire spor print, set it in a bowl clean sterile bowl and squirted about 40 cc's worth of water into them (previously hot sterizled water - it was cooled - in the syringes). sterility is something i think im pretty damn good at. take pride in my ocd.
unfortunately, i didnt think about it at the time, but i took a paper towel to put over top of the bowl to keep shit from dropping in the bowl.
stirred up the solution and sucked it into the syringes. i took a look at my syringes and noticed few small paper fibers inside of the syringes, which could only be from the paper towels.
has anyone ever happen to them before? paper towels are hardly sterile i think. but there are definately small visible fibers in the syringes themselves.
im very sketched out about going through the motions and starting off some jars with these syringes. i got 4 syringes and they are possible contaminated due to the paper fibers.
anyone have any clue what i should do? free syringes really to anyone who wants to give a shot. cambos. this certainly wouldnt be the first time i thought i had a possible contaminated syringe, as i thought i did a batch of contamed syringes before. turned out they were 100% fine. this time tho, with the fibers and such, its a WAY different situation.
PAPER TOWEL AS COVER = NO NO! WILL SKETCH YOU OUT.
anyone had any experience with this?

You're going to have problem with airborne mold spores, probably. A paper towel is not a substitute for a clean room, flowhood, or glove box.

you'll just have to test one out.
make one jar. or one agar dish. or one LC.
do one test run with two jars. both pc'd and one inoculated.
the non-inoculated one should not contam. the inoculated one will telll your syringe story for you.

Could those white fibers be strands of mycelium?

No, but paper towels are very clean due to the high speed nature of the manufacturing process. You might get lucky, but only a test will tell for sure. A sporeprint need not be sterile, just clean. RR
