Hello every one, I inoculated my 21 jars pf style on sat. night.(this is my first grow.) And I have 2 jars with a single spot of mycelium germination, and two of the jars have gotten alittle pink on the inside...could this be contamination?
Should I be seeing more germination by now? The temps in the incubator do fluctuate some, but never drop below 70deg or rise above 80deg.
I'm probably just a worry wart.
Am I the only one who feels this kinda afterglow when working on different aspects of mushie cutlivation? This was something that I noticed while PCing my jars and agian when inoculating.
Just excitment when I found the little spots of mycelium last night alot of excitement for me.

PF jars for me usually take a few days to show any signs of growth. As far as the "pink" goes - you might want to post some pics so others can take a peek and help you there. #1 rule with this hobby (which I still have a problem with sometimes) is PATIENCE. -Me

no digi. Besides its a pretty light color, probably difficult to photograph were you could see what I'm seeing.

Contams will usually appear near the inoculation spots and grow fast. If the pink becomes more visible, you might have to do some digging. Give your jars two weeks to germinate; start over after that. GL.

I felt the afterglow you talk about, and it is very normal. When I saw my very first spot in my first jar is was so exciting, I think we all felt that way so do not worry that you are any different. Patience is a very big part of this type of study amd you will devolope more as it goes. I still have to look a couple times a day on my little babies(lol), some of us do treat them like children that need love and nurturing. Just relax. GL with your studies

Haha, I know what you mean about love for the babies.
I'm about six months into this hobby and all the various contraptions I have with mycelium in them are more precious to me than any of my other possessions! I wake up thinking about them and have to run and check on everything before peeing or checking my email.
Now if only I could get better at taking care of them. I'm still a somewhat inept parent ...

I tell everyone that it is a learning curve to studing these. Everyone has a little troubleat first, just like with real kids but with time and patiences you will learn and get it down right. I check mine every morning as well and before I go to sleep, and probly a couple more times a day(lol). I am getting better about it but it just so neat to watch, also my incubating chamber can handle this without alot of temp loss too. that helps.

the pink is a contamination!~
dump those jars!~
try and colonize your jars between 81 to 84 degrees F. and they will colonize faster.
