Got arrested Last night - Worried friends will be too!

Yesterday evening I got arrested on suspicion of possesing 2 class A drugs, namely Methylone and Magic mushrooms. I have now been bailed to re-appear at the police station in August. As this is a first time offence it is almost certain that I will just be given a caution, however the police officer involved in my case was pressuring me for addresses of friends who also take drugs whilst I was 'off the record' (in other words not on tape or having what I said written down on official police documentation) I claimed that I didn't know the addresses as Iam not prepared to grass on my friends but I did give a correct name and the village for one of them. This was written down in the police officers notebook and Iam now worried that he will be persued and I may be under survalance when I leave the house to see what addresses I go to in that village.
Am I being paranoid or is it nothing to worry about?

Before the people start trashing this guy for giving any info to the police, let me remind everybody that the cops are very, very good at pressuring people into talking. I have been on the receiving end of it, and it isn't easy if you are not prepared.
You are probably being paranoid, but I am not in England, so I donno how the police are there. I would let your friend know what happened. You screwed up and gave the cops info; now you gotta set it right or it will come back and burn you later. Stay clean until the system is done with you.

I have been interviewed by the police before for a seperate offence and found the interview really easy, mainly becuase the officer involved in that case was a really nice guy and it was only a minor offence (causing minor damage to a door). I wouldn't describe this interview as a hard one to get through but I wasn't prepared for some of the questions. I regret giving the name/area of one of my friends but what is done is done, now I just gotta figure what to do next.

Call your friend or get word to him so he can be prepared for anything that may happen.

Dude, dont give this person shit, for being a snitch??? When you get arrested, you sit there and don't say anything other than Name, Your Address, Serial Number. Never admit to anything, When they ask you about others just look at the ceiling, or your shoes. Do not say Yes or No, or lie, JUST REMAIN SILENT. Yeah they will scare you saying your going to spend alot of time in the state pen for this or some crap. Guess what more than likely your not going to do any time, or not alot. And trust me that time spent will go by quick, and when your out, all those people that you did not snitch on will take care of you. This is Humanity VS. Slavery. Stay on the Humans side, because babylon has no love, and wants to enslave everybody. I know ive been thru it a couple times now. Im almost off probation, and when I get off im never going to sell again. and when I smoke, or am in pocession, you best believe I or it is going to be hidden so well, even a dog couldnt find me/it.

there is no 'off the record' wit the police, that simply means they turned off what ever recording device you can see, the other 3 are still recording. Cops will try coerce information from you, they make threats and promises, if you dont give them what they want, they'll make sure you serve lots of jail time, if you do 'cooperate' they'll go easy on you, never trust either statement.

While the cops can get your charges dropped or reduced sometimes if you RAT...
HELLO: NOT SNITCHING DOES NOT RESULT IN ADDITIONAL PRISON TIME.
The cops have no idea how your trial is gonna be, what deals the D.A. will decide to offer you, or how the judge will be feeling that day.
When they ask you to snitch, tell them to hurry up and take you over to the jailhouse before you miss breakfast.

in some countries it's just not an option, they dont have miranda rights and they will use various means to make sure something is said or at least that you'll find it difficult to remain silent, screams are never silent.

A friend of mine was stopped for a routine traffic violation... when the cop returned to her car with a citation he offered to tear it up if she would give up the names of anyone involved in drug activity. I found this situation to be extraordinarily offensive. Of course she didn't give up anyone’s name, but why didn't the cop ask if she knew of a rapist, a child molesters, or if she knew of others involved in crimes where there is an actual victim. This same friend has been the recipient of violent acts at the hands of her husband, the police knew of this, yet they are more interested in looking for the drug nerds. Are we such a high priority?
On a brighter note… What is orange and looks good on cops?

Yeah, time will go very slowly, and when you get out you will find that life went on without you and nothing is as it was when you went in.
But at least you won't be a dirty snitch. Snitches oftentimes don't even make it to court to get prison sentences.

Well, you fucked up big time, but you know that.
I'm surprised you had the balls to admit that here. Naturally, it's something we alll despise. But if your average shroomerite had ratted on a friend in the past, do you think he'd admit it here? Hell no. It's the worst crime you can commit in the world of drugs. People will give you shit, and that they should. But, probably a good handful of the shit-givers would do the same in some situation. I'm sure you, in the past, would've looked down on someone for doing this. But holy shit? You just did.
Not justifying these actions. I think narcs are scum. I just think there is more potential scum than we tend to want to believe.

Unfortunately, the answer to this issue treads deeper then logic or rational can safely justify...because it's so fucking far off the sensible scale that it shames me just having to live under such a dilluded system, atleast where simple substances are concerned. Better yet, its not so much the system, but the people running it...But, this is that dark side of soceity for ya, shuffled together, mass produced mental imprisonment...IMO, Drugs do not define a person, their actions, personality and pysche do, along with an infinite array of other idiocyncricies and traits, culture and government. If people are killing people, its because we have no sense of humanity and have lost our commen decency.
Anywayz, I shouldnt rant like a mad man...I will say though, that I think some people are unbelievably uncautious when it relates to drug use. I know people I choose not to hang out with anymore because they have no sense of privacy and no matter how much I try to relay this to them, they still behave wayy too loose, ecspecially when it isnt their ass on the lines...I can see myself having no friends one day...LOL
Dude. You better warn your friend somhow..You have to give him that respect atleast after providing his personal information to the fire-eyed police force who no doubt will "pin" him in the records. Small villages are very very bad for this, because once your known, your always being looked out for.

I've let my friend know and he didn't seem to bothered. Looking back on the police interview I answered a lot of questions that I should have replied 'no comment' to, god only knows why I didn't! Guess I just forgot my rights
Either way the most serious thing I gaved away was a name and a village when a drug user lives, I didn't give an address and he is not in the local phone directory, could the police really be bothered to pursue this for a charge of possesion?

You think the police use the phone book to make drug busts?
They have his full name and town. If they want to find him, they will. It's just a matter of whether or not they want to find him.
What did you say about him? Like, what was the question you answered specifically?

not likely, vague information (assuming you gave only a first name) is difficult to follow up on, with the last name it's much easier but then htey need to investigate and see if the guy participates in illegal activities.

Oh...
If it's only a first name you gave, this is an entirely different story.

Yeah snitches are the worst people. I know the cops pressured you to spit out some names but you shouldn't say a thing.
People need to become more aware on ow to handle police encounters. I kow I have to

The only phrases you should ever utter to the gestapo:
Phrase number one:
"I do not consent to any searches."
This should go without saying.
Phrase number two: "I'm sorry officer, I appreciate what you are doing, but I have nothing to say to you. Am I free to go?"
If they say no, then you are being detained/placed in custody. They have to have evidence to detain you legally, and if they do not, you can have the officer disciplined, and even canned. Ask for a name and Badge number.
Cops aren't nice guys. They aren't your friends. They aren't your legal counsel. They are trying to trick you into spilling something, so they can meet their quota and feed their little piglets at home. If an officer is talking to you, it means he's fishing for evidence. Treat the situation like such. Its his job to destroy lives, futures, and reputations.
edit: Holy ressurected threat batman! Sorry, didn't notice the date.

they can hold you for 72 hours in most states without charges, filing a complaint can be an ordeal in it's self even when it's very legit
