k SO 5 days in and i can see specs of mycelium in my jars (brf w/verm) In my home built incubator, Things are looking good, a few questions though. First ive noticed ONE of my jars is contaminated its got a green blotch so i plan on trashing it, but will it hurt to leave it with my other jars to continue to incubate?? I just want to see exactly what happens and what a fully colonized contaminated jar looks like. Second a lot of my jars seem to have spots of what looks like brown-ness? lol Its not a mold of any kind maybe too much water in the jars? I want to say it looks kinda like a soggy brown-ness but im not sure. IF thats what it is do you think it will dissapear once the mycelium becomes a little more developed? Dig cam is gone for a few more days but if needed i can post pics later. Thanks for all the information!

Get the green jar out of there. Why risk further contamination. A fully covered contaminated jar looks just like you would imagine it. Don't worry, you'll have many more opportunities to see that firsthand if you continue this hobby. The brown, if a contam, is probably bacteria (wetspot, etc). Sounds like you left your substrate a little too wet. If it looks like it's spreading, that jar is history. If not, keep your fingers crossed. You might get lucky.

You don't want to leave that contaminated jar to grow any further. Chuck it and say F'it. if they spread you'll have a major issue on your hands, green mold is a bitch to get rid of.
The brownish mushy looking spots your talking about. I'm thinking your talking about useing to much brown rice flour and to high of a water content can make brf look like a brownish pasty mush. But don't quote me on that since im not 100% positive that is the case. Hope to have helped, take it easy.
