Not too shabby for a first casing

This is Mazatapec on straw, cased with the 50/50 casing method. I never expected such a good pinset!!
The more I look at them, the more they look like plantasia. What do you think?
They still have a couple of days to go.

Those look fantastic. Very full, meaty looking fruits. Excellent job. Make sure you post pics when they are mature.

I missed my best opportunity to pick Oh well, life goes on.
Shrooms, Its whats for dinner!
Can anybody ID these? I thought they were Maz, but they are more consistent with plantasia. It may just be that they were grown on straw and not poo.
Can't wait for the second flush!!!

Wow dude, awesome job! Congrats on such a successful first try.
I am about to start my first casing in a few days (up until now I have been sticking to basic pf teks). I really hope to do as well as you; I will post pics when I get some results.

Get to know the hyphae's 50/50 tek!! A good pinset means the difference between a good flush and crap.
I will be posting a fresh weight later tonight (minus what goes in my belly!!)

Overall, I have been impressed on the yield of such a small casing.
This is the casing after I removed the mushrooms.
On the scale.
WOW! almost 500g wet!!! that should be about 2 ounces dry (minus the crap on the stems). This definitely kicks the pf tek's ass!!!

That's what I'm following! I'm mainly working from these documents:
http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/7977 http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/3290155 http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/23805
I made up a 50/50+ casing mix of peat, vermiculite, and some calcium carbonate. I pasteurized it in the microwave and used it to case crumbled substrate from two half pint jars last Saturday. Today the mycelium poked out in several places, so I stopped incubating and began trying to get it to pin. I'm using the technique of having the (tall) casing container itself be the fruiting chamber (humidified by the casing). I'll post pics soon.
Once again, congrats on your success! 500g. I can't believe it!

I looked back at the picture after it only dried to an ounce. As it turns out, I only had 300g. so much for attention to detail.
This casing does not look like it is going to flush again. It's back to veg. state and no knots in sight. in comparison, my other (cow poo) casing is knotting for it's first flush. Is this common for straw?

There is no second flush yet. That's the problem. Granted it's only been about 5 days since the first flush, but it should be further along than a new casing that I started to fruit the same day.

I put this casing under my bed because I thought that is was dead. I was wrong, very wrong. I'll have to put a pic up when I get home in the morning. These friggin' things are resilient!

definatly not 2 ounces dry, the scale says 350g anyway. you should have about an ounce when youre all dried up.

Glad to hear it is back in action!
Still waiting for my first attempt at casing to pin. It has been about 10 days now. Hope everything is OK ...

Back in action is a relative term .....
This is a sad state of affairs.
Considering the overlay, I'm suprised anything came up. They should be big anyway.
