Nope. Those are the 1966 english heroes. That was the last time they won the world cup ... and it was also the last time they ever defeated Portugal in official games

Pele looked bereft. His face was a mix of crushing disappointment and bewildered frustration. But when he spoke he articulated what everyone had witnessed. "Zidane is the master," he said. "Over the past 10 years, there's been no-one like him, he has been the best player in the world."
It was as if he was working in his own universe, on his own level. No one else came close to touching him, no one else appeared to be even playing the same game. And to think it could have been his 103rd and final appearance for France.
Yeah he really made Brazil look like amatuers I really hope france takes it he deserves it.And i hope they beat portugal badly.

no way. i'd love to see portugal take it, but they will have to come out with all they have. i see a strong desire to leave it all on the field, and a cohesiveness that is missing from some other teams. figo is at least the tried and true veteran that zidane is, though the frog prince is certainly shining. don't count POR out yet.
so happy to see brazil go home. bunch of hacks.

i'm glad brazil and england have both gone home, because they have both played ugly sloppy soccer for the whole world cup.
my prediction is germany beats portugal in the final game. although i wouldn't mind seeing france go to the finals either.

Don't blame Ronaldo As always, England fans are fingering the wrong man.
So we have our pantomime villain. He's a pretty boy, he's foreign, he's cunning and conniving. He's perfect. But as always, millions of distraught England fans have fingered the wrong man in Cristiano Ronaldo. If you take away all the bluster and barely suppressed xenophobia, there are are only two people to blame for the incident that will define England's exit: Wayne Rooney and, to a lesser extent, the referee Horatio Elizondo.
Throughout the tournament, and particularly after being substituted against Sweden, Rooney has been giving an increasingly disquieting homage to the 1991 Paul Gascoigne, who ruined his career in 15 minutes of maniacal madness in the FA Cup final. Rooney was an accident waiting to happen, he stamped on Ricardo Carvalho deliberately and recklessly and, whether he was sent off for that or the push that followed, his actions jeopardised an increasingly dominant England side.
What exactly was Ronaldo supposed to do? Rooney stamped on a team-mate of his. Was he supposed to stand and admire it? Chuckle at the bulldog spirit of his Manchester United colleague? If Ronaldo had stamped on Gary Neville in similar circumstances and Rooney had piled in, we'd have salivated over the all-for-one-one-for-all spirit of England. That's all Ronaldo did. He was then pushed by Rooney, a gesture which he didn't seek to magnify by going down, and the ref decided to send Rooney off. That's the ref's fault for overreacting quite pathetically to the push, not Ronaldo's.
It's not nice to see players talking to referees in such circumstances, but it's a fact of life and the notion that this is somehow more contemptible that deliberately stamping on a man's testicles is narrow-minded English nonsense. Besides, Ronaldo did not wave an imaginary card; we don't even know what he said to the referee.
Ronaldo's knowing wink after Rooney went off was not especially edifying, but then this was hardly a Diego Simeone-style set-up, so if he was winking to anyone it was as likely to be out of nervousness or a misplaced eagerness to please than to be the action of a criminal mastermind smugly acknowledging the brilliance of his sting. Yes he pouted provocatively after he scored the winning goal; so did Andy Moller in 1996; so would you if you won a penalty shoot-out in those circumstances.
Similarly, the stuff before the game - Ronaldo playfully, maybe not playfully raking his head down the back of Rooney's - can be dismissed as an interesting aside in the context of the alleged frostiness between the two at Old Trafford. It is nothing more, and it certainly is not responsible for Rooney's increasingly demented approach to the game. If anyone deserves to take the blame then it's Rooney and the ref, not Ronaldo.
Anyway, the portuguese media has already wrote about what C.Ronaldo said to the ref. Ronaldo didn't ask for any card, that would make him candidate for a card as well. Yes the portuguese kid is a kid, but not as kid, or not as stupid kid, as Rooney is. Ronaldo said to the ref that it was an ugly fault, but he didn't ask for any card. Then the wink stuff ... come on brits, that's not just wishful thinking, that's a hell lot of imagination.
Phumfeinz, regarding that site: "ihateronaldo", that's fucking joke. Your media is arrogant and some of you just follow the flow. I was hoping for a strong english team, i was even supporting you, but fuck man, what's up with your media ? It's laughable to say the least. They created this stupid illusion, and most of you just felt for it.
GO PORTUGAL !!!!!!!!! MAIA
i agree with the comments above about Ronaldo and Rooney. Rooney is a thuggish twat who should be blamed for his idiocy at least as much as Beckham was when he did the exact same thing against Argentina in 1998. It's entirely Rooney's fault we went out, if he'd kept his temper we could have taken Portugal in the second half or in extra time - it was all England for the last 60 minutes, as we fought with 10 men with our backs to the wall. if we'd still had our centre forward for that period, we'd have nailed them.
good luck MAIA and good luck Portugal. i'm rooting for Portugal now, as i'd picked them out of my work sweepstake, and will win £60 if they come good - plus, it'll make it better if we lose to the eventual winners, like last time vs Brazil (spectacular Ronaldinho chip over goalie from free kick).

From today's Sun newspaper (best seller, 4 million copies):
OUR WORLD CUP MARKS
PAUL ROBINSON TOOK a bit of stick, notably from Portugal’s useless striker Pauleta who reckoned the Spurs man was England’s weak link. Yet Robbo kept four clean sheets in five games and was only beaten by two goals from Sweden — neither of which were down to him. 6
GARY NEVILLE GIVES his all for England even when he is not fully fit. Came into the tournament short of match practice and missed three games. Showed what England had lost by overlapping to good effect against Portugal. Never at his best but still has plenty of internationals left in him. 6
JOHN TERRY STARTED off nervously but made a great clearance off the line against Trinidad. Never shirked a challenge. His best game was against Portugal and, had England got through, it would have been a travesty for him to have missed the semi because of an unjust second booking. 7
RIO FERDINAND WORLD CUPS are where Rio belongs. He was magnificent in 2002 and in Germany, he was again a star. He is more consistent at the very highest level than he is for Manchester United. He needs to take his international form into the Premiership next season. 8
ASHLEY COLE HAD barely played since October due to a broken metatarsal and other subsequent injuries but he grew as the World Cup went on. And by the time England faced Portugal, he was right back to his very best. Arsenal’s loss will be Real Madrid or Chelsea’s gain. 7
DAVID BECKHAM QUIT as skipper in the wake of the exit against Portugal. Now the big question is has he played his last game for England? The emergence of Aaron Lennon suggests Beckham’s days are numbered and you sense he is aware of it. Cannot get by on his deadball delivery alone. 6
STEVEN GERRARD SCORED two fine goals but still did not get forward as much as he — or England fans — would have liked. Something about Eriksson’s system prevented him getting hold of games by the scruff of the neck and taking them over as he does for Liverpool. Defended superbly as ever. 7
FRANK LAMPARD CAME into the tournament with a well-deserved reputation as a dangerous goal-scoring midfielder. But, despite having more shots at goal than any other player — 26 — he failed to score. Will be disappointed with his efforts despite complaining he had an unfair Press. 6
JOE COLE WAS probably England’s best player in the group stages and fired in a fantastic 30-yard volley against Sweden. But the Chelsea winger was not so effective in the two knockout games when opponents sussed that he only ever cuts inside from his left-wing berth. 6
OWEN HARGREAVES BEGAN the tournament getting booed, finished it as England’s star player with the fans singing his name. Hargreaves has finally arrived as an England player and has staked a firm claim for a regular spot. New boss Steve McClaren must find a way to accommodate him. 8
WAYNE ROONEY SUCH a hoo-ha about getting him out here, in the end you wonder whether it was all worth it. This was not the Rooney we know, although that was partly down to the system. He is no lone striker and needs to come from deep rather than playing with his back to goal. 6
MICHAEL OWEN UNLUCKIEST player in the squad. Battled back from a broken metatarsal to make the tournament, then ruptured his knee ligaments early on in the group game against Sweden. The worry is we might never see the Owen of old again. Expected to be out until after Christmas. 5
PETER CROUCH NOBODY could argue with the big man’s contribution. He has become a cult figure in the England squad and always had a smile on his face around the camp. Knows how to hold the ball up and link the play. And if McClaren plays 4-4-2, he must have a chance of a regular place. 6
AARON LENNON INJECTED pace and life into the team every time he came on. He is one of those players who gets you on the edge of your seat when he has the ball. A full season at Tottenham will benefit him. Poised to be the player who brings Beckham’s England career to end. 6
SOL CAMPBELL WE have probably seen the last of him in an England shirt. Has been an outstanding servant but his time is up. Played every minute of the last two World Cups, only a bit-part here. Looked ponderous when he replaced Ferdinand v Sweden as shaky England conceded late on. 5
JAMIE CARRAGHER NOT a roaring success as a holding midfielder but then he was as surprised as anyone at being asked to play there. More at home as a defender but was dropped as right-back for playing too many long balls. Best in central defence, will be the first alternative to Ferdinand and Terry. 6
MICHAEL CARRICK ONE game as a holding midfielder but he plays it completely different to Hargreaves. Carrick is a passer whereas Hargreaves is a dogger who breaks up play and gives it short. If Carrick is going to earn a permanent place, he will have to oust Gerrard or Lampard. 5
STEWART DOWNING MADE three cameo appearances but is fairly predictable. Good crosser with left foot but is no trickster — simply pushes the ball past his man in the hope his pace will get him by. Needs to do more. 5
NOT USED: Scott Carson, David James, Theo Walcott, Jermaine Jenas, Wayne Bridge. ________________________________________________________ check out the Sun website, it's a hoot: The Sun
