Why Do We Pasteurize Hpoo?

I'm not necessarily arguing that we don't need to, just wondering why.
My thinking goes like this...
If my hpoo has been sitting in a bucket in my room for six weeks without being overrun by contaminants, why would I need to worry about contamination when I add my colonized WBS?
Since I'm sure I'm wrong, just not why, can anyone tell me the best way to contain approx 2.6 gallons of hpoo in the oven for pasteurization? Do I need to spread it out in a relatively thin layer or can I just toss it all in a big pot, put that in the oven and heat to 180F?
BTW, not asking anyone to re-invent the wheel. Just pointing me to a good tek would be very much appreciated. I did a search for "pasteurize" in the subject and didn't find much, oddly enough...

http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/22994 and more specifically, http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/23705 http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/26706 sorry to throw so many links at you, but somewhere in those three links id imagine you could come up with a way to do it.
as for your bucket of poo...is it wet right now, as it sits in your room?

dysphoria, links is what I was looking for! =)
And no, the hpoo is nicely aged and dried. About 40lbs of it, too.

Add some water to that manure and you will see why. Dried horse manure is not going to contaminate unless humidity is in the air or moisture is directly added to it.

Oh, I think I get it Wronguy. Combining the WBS spawn with the hpoo and water will create an environment ripe for contams if the hpoo has any residing in it, dormant, now. Right?

correct and it most assuredly does have some dormant right now so it'd waste your wbs spawn

I wouldn't go so far as to say the spawn (WBS) will contribute to the contaminates, but you can bet adding water to the manure will attract contaminates, both new and latent.

Thats a good point, even if the poo didn't have contams its a safe bet that unsterlized water does. especially if u use bottled water. I have a friend that works for a water treatment plant, him and two people he works with and me made a bet on what water had the best quality. We baught every kind of bottled water walmart sells and tested it....the tap water was by FAR the cleanest. Makes ya think.

I wasn't referring to the water causing the introduction of contaminates, but rather contaminates would have an environment to grow after water is added. The moist manure is the breeding ground.

im actually giving holydivers "non steralized-non pasteurized " poo a attempt..
P.C. Hawaiian on unpasteurized/unsterilized horse poo
its been almost a week since spawning a full 2 gallon tray, and as of yet i have no contams
only time will tell i guess..
let me add I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. But i just had to try after reading some of holydivers posts
