myco bag incubation
    #572617 - 03/07/02 03:35 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

my friend has his myco bags in their box in the closest with a space heater(with thermostat) on the floor, and the box of bags on the top shelf. this has been working pretty well as far as keeping the temp consistent, but he hast noticed any mycelium growth in the bags. also unlike the pictures i've seen of myco bags, there are no water droplets on the side of the bag. he had the bags at room temp for 5 days and just bought the heater yesterday, so its been 6 days total. the closet is about 4' X 3' and the heat in the box is about 90 degrees.

his question is, "shouldnt i be seeing some growth by now?"

and also, is it possible to dry out the bags, even though they are sealed. he tried a heating pad first and that had no effect in the heat of the bags.

also, should he reshake the bags to mix the mycelium more(if there is any in there)

is this weird? or is he just being impatient??

90 degress is much hotter then you need...and you dont really want to use a dry heat like that to incubate with...just make an incubator like this one http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem.php?View=docs&doc=128 I'm sure it uses less electricity then a space heater too.
