Yeah idk but I think that shrooms have no medical use what so ever but I could be wrong so if there is then just post back and say so.

Ask Shroomery Vet Phred.
Cluster headaches... migraines... there's a study. Seems moderate doses of shrooms and other hallucinogens like LSD help stop the headaches for months at a time.

poisonous mushrooms are a great way to treat pain... but that's only because dead people tend not to feel pain

Mushrooms are fantastic for reliving the symptoms of reality.

Apparently they help obsessive-compulsive disorder. I think it's currently being researched.

In general, hallucinogens are used to investigate cognitive function (working memory, selective attention, etc.).
As for "mainstream" therapy there is little use. You would run into that minor side effect of "hallucinations and distorted reality".
A more likely scenario would be to use them for developing other pharmacological compounds. For example, once psilocybin is found to treat cluster headaches the molecule would be altered to eliminate the hallucinogenic properties (while maintaining headache relief).

It seems that altering the molecules to remove the hallucinogenic properties lessens or even eliminates the efficacy of the compound. Case in point being methysergide (Sansert) which Sandoz deliberately created as a "detuned" version of LSD, hoping to retain its migraine-fighting abilities while eliminating the psychoactive effects. Sansert does help some migrainuers (and even some clusterheads) but to a far lesser degree than either LSD or psilocybin.
LSA, LSD and psilocybin will actually terminate an entire cluster "cycle", sometimes with a single dose, while Sansert and its analogues will (sometimes) stop just a single headache. The next headache will arrive right on schedule as soon as the Sansert is stopped.

psychedelics can be used for therapy if used correctly.my last trip gave me a better view on life.. for a couple months i was going through a weird disconnected part of my life. overall i wasnt happy about anything and the future did not look good. i decided to take lsd anyway... after that night my whole life changed. i looked at my problems in a completely different view and was able to get over all the negative aspects of my life. Not only was it the best and most intense time of my life, i now feel more clear headed than ever and im happy. Now if that isnt therapy, what is

well, stimulation of one area of the brain causes blood flow to be increased to that area, with vessels expanding to accomodate flow...
areas that are not being used receive reduced bloodflow, for the sake of efficiency, and the blood vessels contract.
Could that have something to do with the migraine treating effects? Perhaps a result of shifted blood flow in the brain due to selective stimulation?
