Hiked a couple miles to a nice overlook. It was a beautiful day for it too.
He's a real cool guy. Plus anyone who hikes the AT with water shoes is fucking HARDCORE!!

Yeah man it is really rocky over there. Bare earth has been exposed making it quite a bit more challenging to hike around.

He seemed to be doing really well. Was in good spirits and was optimistic. Of course, completing the 1,000 mile point would probably do that to anyone. But that's such a long distance!

hey man! still in Harpers Ferry, battling a bought with explosive diarrhea...
I slept on the porch of the outfitters after drinking 4 pints of magic hat, and I only bought one, the locals were gawking at us and we talked with them all night. This morning I bought a new pack and went to alcohol stove, got my weight down to 25lbs with excessive food. Pretty sweet deal
Thanks for the smoke and the pizza dude, had a great time hanging out with you. Frisbee was a blast!
Well I'm going to shoot for 18 more miles this afternoon so I'd better attempt to get out of this outfitters before I blow any more money.

25 pounds! Damn that's absolutely amazing!
Hope the diarrhea improves and doesn't develop into that nasty bug. What sort of pack did you pick up? And yeah man, frisbee was great

granite gear - vapor trail
http://www.granitegear.com/products/backpacks/ultralight/vapor_trail/index.html
made an alcohol stove with the guy I was talking to at 7-11 last night out in front of the outfitters this morning. used two coke cans and it took about 10 minutes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soda_can_stove
It boiled water in about 4 minutes with one capful of fuel when we tested it out.

I may have to try an alcohol stove next time I go backpacking.
Also, enjoy the ultra-light backpacking, I'm sure it will make things more enjoyable than with a 50 pounder.
