looks good!! Personally i like to put more crushed limestone than perlite, as it gives nutrients. I picked up 5 gallon buckets of 1/4" grate and powdered limestone at the local construction company for free, just asked. They had mountains of it so they didn't care.

Looks good, I dont know why but I always thought people took the cutting and cut it length wise. Then let it caluse and then plant. Or can it be done both ways?
How many inches from hte top of the pot is it?? I would have a maximum of a few inches. from the picture it looks like the cutting is burried half way down the pot... I also wouldnt water till your sure roots have set in.. Trichocereus only roots when water is scarce, so keep that in mind.

It is indeed usually done vertically. This works too though. Nice big healthy root system, and at least 2 pups.
Here are some pics, on a site I wouldn't normally link to, out of dislike for the guy... but they're good pics.

Hey, thanks for those pix man!
Even though it's not really related to this thread, here's a pup that's been growing on my other san pedro. The dates on the camera are fucked, and I forgot the exact date I noticed it, but it's less than 2 months old.

This picture was taken after the pup took some abuse due to too much direct sun:

It's doing pretty well as far as vertical growth goes, but does anyone know how I can increase it's girth? I don't have any lime in the soil and haven't fertilized, maybe that would help?

The pup is getting pretty tall already! Good work man. Wish I had some tips on ferts for you but I've never experimented with growing cacti.

"but does anyone know how I can increase it's girth?"
Actually, the best thing you can do is put it outside. You just need to properly get it used to the sunlight. It will continue to be etiolated like that without some good light and nutrients.
Unfortunately, it won't fatten up from the way it currently is now with time alone. It will stay that width, and just get taller.

GAY.
Well, I'm moving soon and hopefully I'll be able to put it in maybe a sun-room or outside. I currently live in a one-bedroom apartment that only has 2 windows, no porch or balcony. I can't even put it out during the day because I live right near Greek Row ( ) and EVERYTHING gets vandalized. They even destroyed the picnic benches.

Artificial lighting combined with the window will do wonders.

By artificial lighting, do you mean a flouro-strip plant bulb, or like a HPS or metal halide rig? Cause I've really been wanting to get one of those.

Why didn't you listen to the answer last time you asked?
"can i just go off and cut some peices liek that off the cacti and lay it down like that and get pups then?"
Did you seriously ask for a third time?

What I meant was I thought people would cut the cactus 50/50 from top to bottom, then let it callous and root horizontily.. I figured this would give you 2 cuttings that would pup. now that iv seen how its done, i figued that cutting the cactus like that would be a very big shock to the system.

Yeah, it would probably be a pretty big shock. I also think it would take a while to callouse. I could imagine the entire thing just dying that way, but who knows?
I thought I might've been misreading your post, seemed a bit strange.
