As above - would this thing be shit? I dont know the brand or anything. I'm geussing that 3 in one dial collection hygrometers are probably bad. Its only about $2.80 US so I figured it couldnt hurt? Also its local, so I can pick it up.
What do you guys think?
What about this type thing.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Antiques-collectables/Clocks-scientific-instruments/auction-58740101.htm

Check the cigar stores in your area. They carry the mechanical hygrometers for humidors. Those are the type to get. They average around $15US for a decent one, and they have a screw you can adjust on the back to calibrate. RR

Hygrometers for humidors are extremely inaccurate at higher humidities. I agree ZEPH those are the best I have more than one.

I've got one of these: <a href="http://www.lacrossetechnology.com/images/products/250px/ws/ws_9410u_250.jpg">LaCrosse WS-9410U</a>.
I tested out three different temp/hum setups all in the same bin and the crappy store-bought ones had a misreading of up to 5%. Found this model to be fairly accurate all throughout the spectrum.
