RH at 70%

Ok so I know that there are easy and simple ways of getting a fc at or neer 100% RH. But what would happen if you were to try and fruit in a FC with humidity at 70%?

Your substrate would loose water faster and probably not flush so great.

Cakes or casings?

Either way, I'd say you need higher RH, around 85-87% for casings and ~99% for cakes.

ok thing is I live in the middle of bumfuck. Perlite or lava rock is about two hours away and I'm not planning on making that trip any time soon.

cakes will flush though right? not very good but they still will?

Cakes want 99% or as close to it as you can get. If no perlite, you can line the bottom of your FC with paper towels and keep them damp. Replace every second day. The paper towels will work as well as perlite, but more of a pain in the butt because you need to change them out.
