Hawaiin help

I got some hawaiin spores from the lil shop of spores and I followed the PF Tek exactly. I put the jars into the pot I steamed them in with three layers of foil overtop the jars, one without any holes. The house hasn't dropped below 76 since I've had them and after 5 days still no sign of anything happening. I haven't exposed them to much light and can't figure out what's going on. Help?

5 days?
you're spores are germinating.
or the jars were warm when you inoculated and the spores are dead.
probably germinating.
be glad you don't have a contamination.
wait... one without holes? did you inoculate?
give me all the details from the time you shut the heat off on the pot until now...

I turned off the pot, waited a few seconds for the jars to cool. They were a little warm, but not much when I injected the spores. I put a whole syringe into 6 jars and put the jars in a pot. The pot is in an area that doesn't drop below 77. What am I fucking up?

the jars are ball jars, and they have two layers of tin foil that were punctured when I injected the hawaiin spores. I then put another layer of unpunctured tin foil overtop and sealed it shut. I looked today and there are NO signs of growth.

you didn't let the jars cool enough.
If they were warm outside, they were hot inside. Probably dead spores. too bad.
wait like 12-16 hours next time.
you might still be okay, the survivors may be germinating now. don't touch the jars, start new ones. let the new ones cool all the way. if you have no more spores, fill your syringe with sterile water and try to use it. there could be spores left over in that syringe. you should get more spores though.
for the old jars: after one month toss them or if they contam. otherwise just wait.

after you boil your jars...
remove the foil. it is doing you no good at all. just holding in moisture and trapping it, harboring an environment for contams to invade.
your dry layer of vermiculite is your contam barrier. don't mess it up by putting foil or any thing else over it.

so after I boil the jars, discard from the tin foil completely?

yup.
gone.
it is for keeping the water content correct in the jars during sterilization, that is all.
others may disagree, but I would like to hear their argument.

when I inoculate, does it HAVE to be a specific angle?

nothing HAS to be, but there is a strong suggestion.
put your needle tip against the inner glass and inoculate against the glass allowing the spores to run down the glass to the bottom.
this way they don't clump in some place in the middle.
they will be spread out amongst a large surface area that you can watch develop.
use four seperate and equally spaced inoculation points with the pf tek, but I'm sure you already got that down.

My first spores were Hawaiian as well and it took 2 weeks before I even saw anything, I think I had them a little on the damp side at first. % days is nothing to worry about, but I will have tp agree with the others that you must let them cool down for a while before innoc. Most of the teks say to just let them set over night to be safe before innoc. I wish you the best of luck with your studies and remember this, you need patiences with this type of growing. GL
