Spiritual and Well Being To-Do-List?
    #5716786 - 06/05/06 09:24 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Well, do you guys have anything you want to do in the near future relating to spirituality or self betterment in some way.

Personally I want to:

- Start meditating more than once a month.
- Read more and more and more.
- Do everything in life with more mindfullness, simple tasks I mean.
- Start keeping a journal, perhaps, though I don't find it is always that useful, and more of an indulgance.
- Go on a fast, and consequently eat healthier afterwards.
- Take a week off from technology, like a technology fast. No computer or TV (though I don't use it much) for one full week, and see how that is. I would still use telephones and such, but nothing too high tech. Try and give more attention to simple tasks during that week.
- Consequently, spend less time on the computer.
- Remove myself from normal, regular life for a month, which I am doing in august, going on a trip across the states with my friends, during which all of our goals involve evolving as people.
-Write more, write more music, and make more art.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Anyone else?

-attend yoga every day in the morning
-meditate daily for a reasonable period of time
-observe a day of mindfulness (sort of a Sabbath) once a week, perhaps with sacrament.
-become a more mindful person by removing hinderances and distractions.
-try to find people to connect with in meaningful ways
-learn to cook and make it a mindful activity
-beautify my soon to be new apartment, give it a great spiritual vibe and do the best I can to make it a humble, peaceful, mystical, kind of trippy place.
-keep the apartment very clean.
-be spiritual (that's the tricky one)

- Halt my indulging in mental masturbation
I've got this thing on not eating all day, then coming home and pigging out, feeling ridiculously fat when I go to sleep, waking up full. I really need to stop doing that.
- Be here now and concentrate on the task at hand instead of indulging in my personal past or thinking about the future.
- Practice altruism at all times, because altruism is a direct relation to your awareness.

Besides that, I'm already reading four books (in 2 different languages), keeping up on my art, meditated daily for the past 4 months, and stayed productive. I'd give myself a B, so there's still plenty of room to improve.

That sounds like a cool ritual. And a good one too!

1)Lose some of my massive self-importance

2)Get back into my dreaming work.

3)Cut the soles off my shoes, climb a tree, and learn to play the flute.

I have realized that it is much easier for me to focus on intellectual and spiritual tasks than to deal with the foundational aspects of material life.  My focus for the next year is on simplifying, systematizing & gracefully accepting the material aspects of being alive.

--Daily exercise for all three aspects of physical wellbeing (cardio, strength, flexibility)

--Mindful eating with a focus on energy production, healing & longevity.

--Financial management to make the most of my resources.

--Starting my own business to increase the wage I am receiving in exchange for my life energy.

--Eliminating most of my "stuff," as in the belongings I am not currently using, but still allow to clutter my space.

--Keeping my living space clean and organized.

--Relaxing and playing with my family on a daily basis.

--Gardening/landscaping each week.  Getting dirt under my nails is wonderfully "grounding."

--Limited participation in passive entertainment (movies, books, magazines, internet).  I ditched commercial TV last year, but still watch DVD's and read every day.  I believe it will be more beneficial to pursue my active hobbies (singing, playing guitar, painting, drawing, crafting).

I have slipped into the high desert for almost that long at one time. It's a life altering event. I suggest the wilderness for this. I naturally did a recapitulation without knowing the term. Once human imput stops for awhile the flow is reversed and everything stored in the memory banks starts to come out. I remembered dreams I had as a child that I'm fairly sure I never remembered on awakening, when I actually had them.

Nice post idea!

Nice well being to do lists everyone!  Most of anything I would add has been said.

I do plan to work more on understanding and applying aikido philosophy "the way of harmony". I really want to drop whatever masochistic penchant I have left for discord for good.

A little reminder tip to help us all better fulfill our wellbeing plans.

I just recently remembered this old adage, which is worth a bundle. Energy flows where attention goes. Energy powers up and strengthens anything it is put into.

Say you have it on your list to quit swearing. If you think, "I must quit swearing, I don't want to swear anymore, etc" you are charging up the swearing part of your reality, and probably end up on a massive swearing binge in no time.

If you start thinking in terms of, there are so many rich and beautiful words in the English language, "I am going to focus on using the most pleasant feeling ones", you'll energize that endeavor better.

Something I learned about the creative intelligence of the universe related to manifesting, I tested out and believe in.

The universe doesn't recognize negatives.

If you say,

I am not going to eat junk food.

It hears you give it the command to fulfill-

I am going to eat junk food.

It will help you with that.

So what you want to do is switch any affirmation for positive change that is in the negative around to the positive.

It would then look like,

I am going to eat food that is healthy for me.

If its going to be a radical new change, hold clear the model of that you which to switch into.

If its something like exercising more regularly, hold clear in your mind, the life style and body of those who do it regularly. Follow that by starting to tell yourself, you are one of those people now.

It can be very powerful, like when you get out of your yard work clothes and into a new and sharp dinner outfit. Its easier to play out the role of the dining sophisticate when in your new sharp dinner outfit, then when in your grungy yard work clothes. It makes it more believable to you, that you are something, which makes it easier for you to begin taking ACTUAL ACTION.

Like when wearing my Tae Kwon Do uniform, I can't help but to start practicing kicks when unloading the dishwasher.

Same dynamic applies when you identify yourself with a role model. Its much easier to start acting like it.

Its a temporary thing. Once you actually start living out the role regularly, then, it's made real, and the action becomes supported by the good feelings the activity brings you.

At first I hated gardening. I'd have to put on the grunge clothes to get motivated to assume the role and take action. Now, I love it for the reasons Ver gave and then some, and can be in new dress clothes and find myself in the middle of one pulling weeds, without care if they get dirty.

I no longer need to identify myself with the role of a beautiful gardens keeper and model after others. It's just in my heart now and the love and appreciation for it naturally and easily supports the action.

Take linear time out of the equation, and its all honest. We are all anything and everything in unmanifest potential. It has to start somewhere as a thought form, to make a blue print for the energy and action to have something to follow.

To say you have a new home, could be a truth anywhere up ahead in time. To have a blue print, now gives you a place to start putting energy and action into building it. You'll get to that potential point in time much quicker, if you take the first step of action by drawing up the blue print to follow.

In this case, the blueprint is drawn up by adopting a new self identity (model to follow). Soon, the actual house becomes really built and you can ditch the blue print and just enjoy living in the house.

Blessings to everyones well being! :sun:

:peace:

i find that this comes about through meditation as well.... and have never ran away from humans for a month.

that sounds challenging and rewarding. i'm not sure if i would be brave enough to.

I spent a few years doing it. It was some of the best time of my life. I like being alone and having to rely on myself. Had I hurt myself badly I wouldn't be posting here. I never felt fear out there like I can around human habitation.
