Has anyone heard of adding nutrients or shroomie "dope" to the water used for misting? I am wondering if it would be a terrible idea to add some bee pollen from a health food store to a hydrogen peroxide solution used for spraying casings/cakes... pollen is full of mushroom steroids, but I think it's also full of sugar, at least to some extent, but I'm also thinking having sugar in an H2O2 solution would cut down on the rish of contamination through this route. Any suggestions, thoughts, slaps on the wrist, or punches in the face welcome

Use plain water. I hydrate grains in weak liquid coffee, and use all my morning coffee grinds in the compost, but the casing layer should be inert. Don't feed it or you'll screw up your crop by sending it back into vegetative mode. Well, that is if it doesn't contaminate first. RR

I've heard of coffee used as an enrichment for water used to soak grain or in cakes, but never misting.
Do we know if mushrooms even absorbe any nutrients through the fruitbody? I don't think your mycelium would have enough surface area in contact with the mist for anything usefull to get absorbed there.

It hasn't been done that I know of. Which saying that around here is usually grounds for experimentation

I posted something in Adv. Mycology about making a "tea" from Alder chips to use in this same manner, but haven't heard much interest in it...maybe the wrong place for it. I have read about the properties of Alder (aside from providing nitrients/food for myc.) as far as antibacterial goes.. Such a spray might help keep contams down if used with casings, but still I guess there's the issue of sending the myc. network back into growing phase rather than its fruting phase. ?? It would just be nice if there were a way to continue to feed an established network somehow without highly risking contamination.
