Hardly any rain in months (Louisiana)

Well it's early June now and the weather in Louisiana (at least southern Louisiana) is extremely dry. Last week we had about 2-3 30-45 minute showers, but it's not enough. I went to a good field after the rains and absolutely nothing (and I'm positive that this field produces.)
This leads me to a decent question. How much rain does it need to get the mycelium ready to start popping them out good? I know 36-48 hours after a good rain = shrooms. However it seems if it's been dry for a good 2 months, it's going to need more than a days worth of rain. What do you guys think? Should I just hold off on hunting altogether until there is rain for a good 3-4 days solid? Thanks.

well let's see. with Psilocybe semilanceata, P. cyanofibrilosa, P. strictipes, etc in the PNW, it seems to take about two weeks of regular rain after prolonged dry peroids to get the season started, and this is in a place where even the end of the dry period already has sporatic rains and drout is rare.i would say, depending on the mushrooms in question and the weather, it could be as little as a week and as much as a month.
of course with some of the PNW species [P. cyanesce3ns comes to mind], they seem to be dependant on the cold weahter aswell, and this is quite possibly true for other species elsewhere.
--------------------
Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

It took us a solid week of rain showers off and on .. Ya know the basic pop up storms we get here in the south. Its been back in the 90's for the past 3 days now and I'm sure it will take another solid weeks worth of rain to get the ball rolling once again. We did not see any rain Feb,March,April May.......... I was beginning to wonder myself!

One good rain for a couple of hours or two days would be even better. Not the pussy stuff we been having like you said where it kinda rains for a hour. By the end of the day, that stuff is already dried up. The best is when it rains back to back. The way the sun is here. Any rain unless its for a couple of hours dries up in no time. You may find some stragler shrooms but to get the money load, it would have to be one or more days of rain for us.
If it would rain though, we got hella humidity, esp. at night when the temps are perfect in the 80 or so, so a day or two after a good rain, you'll be finding them. What we could use is a nice tropical strom / depression or something. I cant take another hurricane but thats the kinda rain we could use lol.

I have no clue where in south la your at, but it's been raining nicely for 2 months straight. With solid shroom production for the entire two months. I have not had an unsuccessful hunt since the beginning of the season.
Ya'll just looking in all the wrong places.

Pain?
You must have misinterpreted my post. I have no pain, I have joy, I have happiness, and I have a fuckload of shrooms.
The rains we have been getting are absolutely perfect. It rains real good, then the sun comes out for a few days, but the humidity remains at 100% all the while. Then it rains again, and repeats, bringing on the next flush. It's been doing this for 2 months, which is LOVELY.
I wish ya'll luck, happy shroomin!
