Drying in filter patch jars?
    #571134 - 03/06/02 01:09 AM (22 years, 18 days ago)

Ok... I might be halucinating... but it seems like maybe the filter patch jars are drying out.... has anyone else had this problem?

Particularly the millet is dry as a bone... no collonization... just dry millet... dont the filterpatches keep moisture from leakign?

on a side note... it seems like cooking the millet would help... any comments?

in a dry environment, you can lose moisture thru filter patch/polyfil. it might be good to store your colonizing jars in a higher humidity area, such as a sealed box.

You can also cover part of the filter disk with some foil to slow down the evaporation rate... of course you loose some air exchange as well. Raising the humidity (as stated in the previous post) is probably a better solution.
