Should I go on vacation for a week?

I've been offered a vacation for the duration of this week...my birthday is on Thursday and as a gift my girlfriend's mom wants to take the two of us up to Cape Cod where they rent a house every year. We'd rent this nice little house on a beautiful lake and I would spend the days reading, sneaking off to smoke some pot, eating wonderful seafood, and swimming if the water's warm enough. Pure and utter relaxation.
I'm unemployed. I need to find a job. Anytime I spend lounging by the lake is time I'm not at a computer actively hunting for a job. I don't know if I can justify this little vacation but god it sounds like just what my soul needs. I'm really torn.

I'd go for it...but I'm a wealthy scion from a blue-blooded and snooty family. I have the luxury to indulge in such things.

Have you ever considered becoming a drug dealer? You'd make a lot of money and you'd have a bunch of free time.

Go for it.
2 weeks of unemployment won't make it any harder to find a job when you get back.
Have fun.

I did? I had a vacation at the last weekend of April, that's about it. And before that the only vacation I had was the Canadian gathering in late january.

If anything, recent events in my life have taught me that I'm not cut out to be a vendor of illegal narcotics.

if he's got 10 resume's out, thats 10 interviews he wont make that week, that in turn will put him further behind, it's time he can also use to keep looking. unemployment is a vacation

Last night I ordered pot delivery from a new service for the first time. They picked me up downstairs in a red pickup and offered me three kinds of weed and some cocaine. I think the driver was wearing brass knuckles, too.

Those were weekend vacations, I didn't even miss any work for them. What I'm worried about here is missing out on interview opportunities plus the chance to continue job hunting. There's no internet connection int he house itself and I don't think that I'll be picking up any WiFi networks on my laptop. And if I can't look for a jiob, I'll feel useless.

A semi-freind of mine got shot working for a delivery service when his boss sent him a little bit too far uptown. He didn't even really need the money. Alot of people, particularly teenagers, don't really get how serious the consiquences for dealing can be. Kind of unrelated, but whatever.

OK, here's how I look at it:
If you are burnt out and stressed about finding a job, you probably won't make a great impression during any interviews you might manage to get during the time you are not on vacation.
If you take the time you say your soul needs right now, rest, relax, maybe do some visualization about what you want to accomplish when you return from vacation, you will return to your job search charged-up and ready to go. The interviewers you meet after your R&R session will be impressed by your energy and focus, and you will be much more likely to get the job.

You have the rest of your life to work. Just leave a voice mail explaining the situation and request a rescheduling if possible, check it regularly.

Do what you feel is best for yourself bro. Maybe a vacation would kick your motivation into overdrive when you do get back, or it could have the opposite effect. Either way, a vacation to cape cod sounds like a lot of fun, but if it means missing out on a bunch of interviews then maybe it's not worth it?

Thing is no one's calling me back. I don't have any interviews scheduled...but something could pop up while I'm gone..

That's a week towards the next rent with nothing saved towards it...
That said, you could always put your shit in a storage unit, go on a vacation, party and goto gatherings all summer, and then get a job in the fall and rent another apartment.
