Self-similarity and fractal-like construction are one of, if not the most important aspect of the fundamental workings of this universe, I think. I can't seem to wrap my head around exactly what this indicates, but intuitively I feel it is very important!

Cool post and awesome vegetable
Trendal, I also feel fractals are really imporant, at least Salvia space feels like that.

You can say that again

Agreed... I think it has to do with the universe wanting to be very simple in its ontology, but exceedingly complex in its teleological extensions... Elementary particles aren't neurotic (well, maybe, if you consider probability amplitude neurotic, which I don't), but we are made up of elementary particles, and we can be neurotic...
Do arabs with knives fly passenger planes into office buildings because of an unfolding and reducible mathematical equation, or is there "free will" at play somewhere? Or is free will itself an illusionary psychological construct whose evolution is predictable in mathematical terms, if one simply had a big enough computer?
So many questions, and so little time...

Hey Pappy, how does the saying go?
Wine after beer, and you're in the clear. Or beer after wine, you'll be just fine. Or Booze before beer, you're fucked sometime near, Or Wine before booze, you chose the wrong move.

The Salvia fractal space for me is multidimensional and encompasses all conscioucesnesses. When I go there it feels like I'm part of huge zipper that's unzipping where every teeth is a consciousness. After so many teeth it will come along a bigger tooth like a bigger element of a fractal where the smaller repetitions form along. This goes on ad infintum like a fractal. But when I take huge doses I'll actually unzip and disconnect from the 'reality' completely. Then I enter a space where I feel and see two godlike entities who feel like I've known them forever, like my parents. This freaks me the fuck out and then I usually start coming down because of my panic. This is the best I can describe it, but it's just one axis of the multidimensional space I experience. And I can't even explain it well to myself Want to do Salvia again, but I'm a bit hesitant. I usually go through phases where I'll use it for a while. Did it once while I used 10mg Valium, made me a lot less hesitant.
Sorry for going off-topic btw.

It's pretty hard to go off-topic in one of my threads. I'm kinda off-topic by nature...

That reminds me, I haven't provided a wine for tonight's little feast of roast beast...
Here's a little red I picked up last week during my travels. I bought it because of the Ralph Steadman label, and because of the name, and because it's imported by Bonny Dune Vineyards in my old stomping ground of Santa Cruz, California...
I haven't actually tried it yet. I'm saving it for a special occasion...

I actually had a post deleted from this thread (for off-topicness) by one of the pubs most selective mods, Trendal. You should be glad you get preferential treatment.

Think of yourself and Trendal as two agonist poles, locked in an eternal struggle, in a dialectic continuum whose result is a hypothesis ever nearer to, but never quite reaching, the golden mean of truth...
That's how I like to picture it anyway...
More wine?

Definitely. There's something about fractals that feel very important and revealing.
