Could be a pound-2. Depends on how water starved it is. I'd say an average of 90% water, according to K. Trout's book, if I recall. +/- 5%.
But, you'd need to figure in how much green fles to total fresh your average dry account is. Most sellers use mainly green flesh, with a little white. The majority in the cactus is white, and the core.
So, don't calculate anything this way, really. It's useless as all cacti differ anyway. Learn what your own cacti can do, and grow them accordingly.

the difference in amount of work and supplies needed to do a 6" cutting versus 10x6" cuttings is probably about 2 hours and $10 more. why not go a little larger in scale?

Well, the solvents, glassware, acid and base will cost you about the same for 1 cutting or 10.... probably all in all the supplies for the extraction will cost you around $45. The economics suggests that 1 dose is a lot less worthwhile compared to 10 doses. If you're paying $10 a cutting, it works out to: 1 dose: 55/ea, 2 doses: 33/ea, 5 doses: 19/ea, 10 doses: 14/ea.
Get some dried cactus and you can easily get those figures under $8/dose with high quality results and enough to share

6"... rough estimate: 100-200mg. 250 if it's great, for pachanoi.
It's a really, really rough estimate. But, that's the best you can do, with this information. 3" diameter isn't so big, but there's no taking into account how recently it has been fed. If the ribs are sucked in, it could be a wider cactus when fully hydrated, etc. Or, it could be fully fed, and a bit less if starved.
I have no idea why you said "you can't get dry cactus". Well, we all can. If you're morally against it, that's one thing. But it still doesn't mean you "can't", much less other people. If you can't for some strange reason, speak for yourself, rather than baffling everyone else. :P

the best answer would probably be 2-3, but only 3 if you were going for rather low dosages or had good strength cacti (1% mescaline or higher).

Use the search engine. Search username ekstaza, word extraction.
