I want to try cubensis, but there are so many sub strains to pick from. What is a good cubensis strain to start with, hardy and potent would be good qualities. I have a nice shady spot in my backyard that I am going to dig/cultivate and fill with manure/soil mix. I will probably add some shade plants and have the shrooms growing nestled/slightly hidden beneath said plants. I have already read instructions in the FAQ and it seems the part that I have no idea how to do is to get the spores to grow into a culture suitable to transfer to the outdoor area. From what I've read, I can't just put the spores into the manure. Someone maybe have some beginner tips? I live in southwest Florida.

There are a few ways.
I suggest reading Mycelium Running, there are many easy ideas...I cant stress that enough, I see so many struggle for no reason. It is very simple but read that book. You'll need it for reference a lot, I do.
He has a great systems for outdoor teks. Read that and you will have a killer outdoor garden, it's a must!

But to answer one of your questions, it starts with a spawn (grains, wood chips, saw dust depends on what your growing, no way around that. But there are many was you can make your spawn. I suggest mycobags, for there size and easy to use.

Pick any strain, B+ is popular for beginners.
You have A LOT to learn to, and I recommend an indoor grow first.

Thanks for the replies, from what I've heard aren't indoor grows a little harder to care for because of contams and such? For a good indoor grow, do I have to have a pressure cooker? What would be the most cost effective setup, as I don't have a lot to invest, and the outdoor garden seemed attractive to me(less equipment, contams less of a problem, etc..) And also, you think that book is carried at any local book stores? There's a head shop nearby maybe they might have it.

Outdoor is simple, much more then indoor,
But outdoor takes time, and a little care to keep it up, harvest could be smaller and at the will of the environment, since you some control it. But outdoor can rock man, if it fits your needs.
Any major book store should have it, call first.
