Partial Cake Casing...?
    #5711012 - 06/04/06 12:31 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Ok I posted awhile back about some old jars that I have...they are apparently really dry, and only two out of 12 have reached full colonization.

I have many that are stalled...but more than 50% done. I'm pretty sure these won't colonize in the timeframe I need them to. They are far too dry.

Is it possible to break away all the Myco from these jars, throw out the excess, and compile it all into a casing? I'd say I'd get a little more than two pint jars worth of Myco, enough for a decent casing...

Anyone have any experience with something like this?

You could try injecting some sterile water into the jars, and you can always birth them, cut out the uncolonized portions, and case. I would personally try the water first. GL.

Its better to do that then let them sit there and die.

You might get contam problems, just make sure your knife is sterile and all the shit you keep is COMPLETELY colonized, no partial shit.

Have you ever flipped the jars?

I dunno if you are going through that dry verm layer (which filters all bacteria) there could be some problems.

Maybe try this idea with a couple of jars.

But have you flipped them?
