Ok, heres the deal. A jar of honeywater was inoculated with 2ml of golden teacher strain. It is now close to 2 weeks old and has been incubated in the dark at approx 25*C. After it was sterilized, some sediments fell to the bottom and it now appears that the mycelium may have started to grow on them creating these wierd looking spheres in the solution, althought im not sure. However there is no mycelium network in mine like i see in other peoples pics. What do you guys make of this?

That is myclem, it is just clumped together because you may not be stirring hard enough.

Have you agitated the LC at all.
Looks weird yeah, but I dont think anything nefarious is going on.
See if you can get a better pic.
Worse thing is that when you extract the LC it will be clumped together.

I didnt have anything in the jar to agitate it and all i could do is gently swirl as its a square jar. Should i just shake this? I do have a problem which is my syringe needle doesnt reach the liquid through the lid. If i shake it up and break up these clumps then maybe i can tilt the jar and get some out. I can always add peroxide to avoid contams later. Also, should i keep incubating? cheers

I have learned that filtering the honeywater after you pc it really helps. after you pc it the first time poor it threw 2 coffee filters then pc agn. I think I was the one who suggested the honey lc in the first place and it is what I use but that sediment wich doesn`t happen every time makes it hard to tell what is in there some times.

I don't have much advice to offer on this run but I can tell you how I do my LC and I've been very happy with the results.
First, make a magnetic stirrer (see my sig). It's not critical but it sure makes nice LC. And the benefit isn't just attractiveness, you can get the myc into the syringe much easier too because each bit if myc will be it's own little ball.
Second, make your normal honeywater solution. PC for 15 minutes at 15 PSI, then remove. Filter the liquid through two coffee filters and re-PC the resulting liquid. You still might have a little detrius but much, much less than without a filter.
Good luck.

Well i just shook he thing like hell and its all in strands now. I'll make sure to swirl often now. I also added a few drops of 17.5% H2O2 to eliminate any bacterial spores. I also just inoculated a Jar of pre-pasturized hpoo. What sterile measures need to be taken when working with pasturized hpoo? Any?
