GL. I'm from the cola area as well. Going to start hunting, but I need to find these secluded cowfields first.

so like i went hunting in my backyard and to my surprise.....

came from this patch...

that patch was spawned with spent rye berry casings and colonized pattys from our field...the babies were actually coming up underneath a whole patty that was just laying there thats why they look squashed......there are some more pins so will have more pix later...

The fields are freakin barren round here. Not even pans. Any signs of life up there?

hey guys not to butt in......but was wondering if you guys might help me learn what to look for and not to look for up here in NC..I am somewhere around raleigh area....won't say where exactly. But I live right next to cow feilds and was wondering if what I am finding is edible....hallucinagenic, wanting to study them but never done this before...been years since I even did shrooms and don't want to be stupid and or die...I just know they are abundant where I am for the most part!!! I know there were diff looking ones, some i picked smelled like the ones i ate and looked like the ones i ate years ago....but i would never just eat them now without knowing or without help... Any help would be great........ hoping not to sound like an ass here. thank you pj

OK question... I had read a post and thread from ST about a mushroom she found. great pics she had. The reason I am posting this is because she mentioned "they smell like magic" what does that mean. I know way back when i ate shrooms for psychadelic purposes of tripping in 94-96 the shrooms I purchased and ate smelled a lot like the ones I picked the other day in the cow dung field. Not all of the shrooms I picked the other day smelled like this mind you. but a few of them did. They had a smell that took me right back to those magic days but the days of wanting to gag from remembering eating them. lol. anyway ......I am going to go pick some later today since alberto has come and gone with lots of rain and I will take pics of them fresh on the dung, picked, and many others then post them to see what you all think..in hopes that they might be active psychadelic species. And not dangerouse ones. My eyes hurt from researching all day and night the last 4 days online thank you all pj

OK GUYS....I went on a hike today and I found a LOT of shroomies hangin out on cow dung, a few look diff than others, am waiting on spore samples now, and I found a few in the grass near cow dung as well as some by a stream in the same cow field. I took pics of all of them some in their habitat...some in my hand or friends hand, some on white reinforced paper towels industrial kind face down and that is on top of a cookie sheet and now putting them up in secure location for now till you guys can HOPEFULLY HELP ME identify them properly. I had such an awesome time out looking and taking pics, I felt like I was doing something productive lol. anyway I will upload the pics and hope someone can help me figure out how to get them on one of these posts I make for later. thank you happy hunting....... pj

I am about to scream. However I already laid the mushrooms out and will wait to use a friends camera tomorrow and take some although they won't be fresh and no pics taken from their habbitat until i go back out. UGH I COULD SCREAM!!! pj

But the pics were taken? Probably just saved to internal memory. Usually, you can just copy them over to the memory card.

ok lets see what I can do with these pics seeing I am not a very good picture taker!!! I apologize greatly for the fuzziness of the pics, and I will have to take more of them today. I will do my best to describe where i located them and what their differances are and were to me from others if any that i found near them or looked like them. I am not very good at understanding the spores and convex..ect type talk, but will try my best to describe them in any event. pj
here is a few pics of the first ones i collected. they were a gray to brownish color. the stems were skinny, and they resembled the liberty caps a little to me. I know they are not them. I also know there are many other kinds, so that is why I am asking. I did see pics last night of ones that resembled these a lot more, but forget the name. My kids were screaming for me so I had to close out. However these little guys were growing on the cow dung in the field, or right next to it in some cases. they were hard to get to lay down, so I pulled the caps off a few and will take pics of their spore prints later for you and post those.
