87 degree's too much for cubes?
    #5708003 - 06/03/06 04:53 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Lately it's been real HOT, hot as in 87 degrees hot and my patches have'nt been fruiting. I want to know if thats too hot for them or if someone has been picking my patch. Oh yeah, it has'nt been raining for a while either. Luckily it rained real hard 4 days ago and has'nt stopped since. But no cubes. Other mushroom species but no cubensis..

Could be a lot of things, but it's not the heat. It's not even hot yet.

Psilocybe cubensis likes 87 degree weather. That in concert with daily rainfall brings forth the Shrooms. :mushroom2:

How long was it dry and is the ground soaking up most of the moisture easily because it's been so long since a rain... also in the rain the humidity will only rise when the sun comes out for a while 87 is straight thermal death is over 100, but I've been having the same problem except my rain's haven't been very steady, so I haven't even checked the patch in a few days....

Well it's been hot and dry for about 1 1/2 months. But it's wierd that I have'nt found any cubes in my patches, after 5 days of rain. It's not stopping for another week..but I'm worried that I won't find any. What do you guys think?

I think that it is early, I don't know the specific time for Fl, but they're just starting to pop up. I also think that if you go out, you'll either find them, or you won't

Today I found 2 cubes, but normally I find like 30-40..but hey if it starts raining more often agian my patches could start fruiting. Those 2 cubes sent some hope in my veins.

Does Florida have a cube season? Or do they fruit all year over there and it's just been to dry?

Depends upon what part of Florida in response to the question of growing season(s). As for too hot, that is negatory. You guessed it correctly, as too dry. Hold your horses and you'll find some. Much luck.
