Is that a music video? The song sounded like Shpongle...with the odd voice and so on.

I do believe that's an excerpt from the video for 'Parabola' by Tool played to 'Molecular Superstructure' by Shpongle... Check out: http://forums.lycaeum.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000836 for more discussion about the original.. I do admit it's a nice blend, though, that was the song that made me want to buy the 'Nothing lasts.. but nothing is lost' CD.. Notice the McKenna quotes? The CD is dedicated to him (but not enough quotes, IMO).

I thought I recognized that voice! He's also featured in "A new way to say Hooray" by Shpongle.
He's describing a trip: "The walls, such they be, are crawling with geometric hallucinations..."
Good ol' McKenna.

That's because it's based on his artwork. Alex Gray also contributed some album art to a Tool album (I think Lateralus, the album that the song the video was originally for is from).
I've noticed that a LOT of people here like Shpongle, but I just don't get it. It feels like it has a decent message, sure, but it doesn't feel full of passion or energy, or even too much musical coherence. DIfferent strokes for different folks, I guess. I'd take some classic Aerosmith or Dead or Stones or Hendrix over Shpongle any day of the week.

The song is by sphongle (nothing lasts but nothing is lost)
Is that an official sphongle music video though?
Who is Alex grey and what does he do?
-------------------- There he goes... One of God's own prototypes. A high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.

Good ol' McKenna.
Yeah, you can totally see his influence in most of Shpongle's lyrics off that album.. They use 'Glossalalia' which if you know McKenna, you know he advocated 'Speaking in tongues' while on DMT to make objects with sound (visible language).

It's ambient music, try listening to it while tripping.. It's great as a soundtrack to a trip. They're good songs on their own, but they have low replayability due to the absence of vocals. When on a trip though, where just that absence makes for a new experience, they truly shine.
