Just curious. Has anyone had experiences with wormwood (by itself; no absinthe)?

I have a homemade absinthe recipe. It calls for 1 and ½ oz. of wormwood. And I bought from IAmShaman, so I had to get 4 oz.
I will have 2 and ½ oz. left over, I was thinking I could try a little bit of wormwood tea. I've read some reports on Erowid.
I'd just like to know if anyone here has tried wormwood by itself, and what their experiences were like.

Thujone is toxic. I have smoked wormwood before, it has a nice flavour but no effects. I wouldnt ingest it if I were you

Then wouldn't that make absinthe toxic?

absinthe is toxic.
thujone = toxic alcohol = toxic
absinthe = toxic
thujone supposedly has no psychoactivity, as reported recently by giz. there are many other igredients to most traditional absinthe's that would add to the effects.

and for the record, wormwood soaked into alcohol does NOT make absinthe.
absinthe is a distillate

Well, I've read more positive than negative reports on Erowid, I doubt they are all just fluff.
I'll try a low dose of wormwood tea, and if I have a bad experience... well then it will serve me right.
And my absinthe recipe calls for soaking wormwood in 100 proof vodka (not ether) for 8 - 10 days, removing it, soaking the rest of the ingredients (aniseed, fennel, 7 other things in specific amounts, some of which have some slight psychoactivity) for 4 days. And only taking 1 or 2 ounces with lots of water and maybe mint.
I wouldn't advise anyone to buy absinthe from anywhere unless you know everything that's in it. There's a lot of rip offs.
I knew about the toxicity, but I'm not just doing this to get "fucked up."
This isn't really the correct forum to talk about absinthe though...
I was just wondering what people's experiences with wormwood were.

Alcohol is toxic and it's the most popular drug in the United States.

I have taken wormwood by itself, ground up and put into capsules, or as a tea (with loads of lemon juice to mask the intensly bitter taste, but it will still taste vile), about a teaspoon full. It is a traditional remedy against flu and colds. It makes you sweat heavily through the night and you'll feel better in the morning.
I haven't noticed any psychoactive effects.

uhhhhhhhh I don't think salvia has thujone in it. the active in salvia is salvinorin-a. If you read that somewhere, post a link.

Salvia Divinorum doesn't contain thujone. Salvia Officinalis does.

whats your itch bud? hog wash? dude coffee is toxic, and it causes your body to retain acids, and gives you withdrawls similar to that of alcohol too.
wormwood tea wont cause any added effects, did you look up the chemical boundaries of thujone? is it even soluble in h20? thujone as far as been proved, is just toxic, and not much else. fennel is most likely responsible for the added effects. but still no one knows for sure, but so far wormwoods been ruled out. go ahead and take your shot though, let us know how it goes.

Wormwood is toxic which is the main point of absinthe. The thujone keeps the liver busy fighting it and so it doesn't "clean" out as much of the alcohol. In effect u get so drunk you trip.

Wormwood tea is not something you'd drink for fun and the same goes for strong macerates.
I occasionally inhale the cool vapors of Wormwood oil and particularly Dalmatian Sage Oil, which is as rich in thujone as Wormwood oil.
I make a cigarette-sized paper tube, put a drop of oil on the inside of the end and then walk around inhaling through it like a bell end.
It gives a nice slight intoxication, definitive proof that it is no placebo. Unfortunately it won't give more than that.
