this was right after you birthed it? you don't need to scrape off verm when you dunk, just dunk, then roll in dry verm, then mist verm and place into terrarium.

coat every part of the cake w/ verm. just the top and sides should be fine b/c the bottom (which was the top in the jar while colonizing) should still have that layer of verm on it.

So i'm new to growing and just reading posts, so go easy on me, but what is 'dunking'? From reading above i'm guessing this means that once you birth the cake from a jar to roll it around in some vermiculite? Whats the reason? I will soon be starting my first project with the PF tek method and i'm just tryin to get educated as much as i can before i start.. Thanks.

Dunking is puting the cake in a jar or a ziplock bag (easier) full of water overnight in the fridge to regain its moisture content, afterward you should roll it in dry verm and mist it so that it will retain a lot more water, remember mushrooms are over 90% water, so they need a lot.

At what time during the process is this done? After the myc. colonizes the cake? If i use a humidifier that won't give them enough h20?

you dunk to rehydrate the cake after it is done colonizing and after every flush.
