Foreign currency exchange

Hey, I was wondering if any of you can help me. At my bank, Wachovia, they want a 75$ fee per foreign check cashed or deposited. And I've got two checks and that would be approximatley 1/3 the value of my checks put together. and thats something id rather not sacrafice considering it takes 6-8 weeks to clear. Are there any alternatives to cashing checks like this with out getting a new account with a new bank. I found a few online trading things but im not too sure how secure those are, so can anyone help?

I had this problem once, and I took an interesting approach. I actually sold the check on ebay. I offered it for 20 dollars off, and I signed over the check to the buyer. Saved me a bit of money.
