its been 2 weeks since my popcorn has been cased into a mix of compost/cow manure, and vermiculite, a 5 inch depth of the mixture was made, 2 of the containers have patches on the surface ( those 2 containers had an extra layer of popcorn layed out closer to the surface than the others ) and the other ones have a crystal appearance covering it, is it normal for it to take this long because the hay recipe toolk 8 days and it was booming white..
i just dont get it, please help

Where did you get that 'crystal appearance', I have not heard that, got a link?
5 inches is a little thick, 3-4 is better, I forget the word that I am looking for but suffocation is another, the mycelium cant breath for a lake of a better exampling.
Here is a very colonized case, Rye to hpoo

Here was my first spawn run,

A few questions, how would you described the moister when you mixed it. What temp have they been at. And what is the size of the case.
Pics would help if you can.

well, the pics that i have you cant see much because the plastic was left over it and theres some light reflections, ever pick up a rock and tell yourself, that its a shiny one, meaning that it had crytal looking reflections, well thats what it looks like, ( sorry but im trying to describe ) and what i did exactly was, a 2 inch layer, then a 250 ml jay spread over it, then about 3 to 4 inches over that, the two that are showing patches only had about 2 inches over them... what i dont get is why does it take so much time.......................

well first of all the casing layer is way to thick try it at 1 or 2 inch off the top of broken cakes or cakes this will help so that the mil does not have to grow through so much stuff and if you have an incubator it helps it grow faster as well same as cold strafing put it in the fridge over night and put it back in incubator it might help

another question, i think it could work, would it be possible to mix it around to spread it around, bring it closer to the surface and at the same time see if it spread? could that work or would it kill everything ?????
