from what i hear/have seen, you simply take it out of its container, place it in a big bucket/tub of clean water, held down by a brick or other heavy non-floatable object, and let it sit for about 6 hours, maybe longer if you wish afterwards, you simply remove from water, let it drip-dry for a minute, put it back in its old container (cleaned out maybe), and recased (if needed, and probably will)

I often use the container that the case is in, just fill with water.
Now the case will want to float, I take care of that by using this metal rack, that will lay on the case, spreading out the weight across the case evenly,
Then over that I use wax paper to cover the case, from whatever,
And then I use a plate with enough wight as to sink the case but not anymore pressure then needed. Its can be a little messy until you work with it...lol
What can I say, it works for me,

i dont think you should re-case or patch just put it back in the FC
your rehydrating for a second flush no need to recase because the myc will have to go beack inot its vegetative state to colonize the new casing

but because your casing shrunk, you're going to want to fill in the sides with your casing mixture.

No. Only fill the sides and the areas where your harvest may have exposed original substrate.
