Whats the deal with the use of an incubator? I have just been keeping jars in the box they came in. I place this in a closet or under the bed. I then wait about 1 month to a month and a half for colunization. Does the who incubator tek just speed things up?

Cool, Cool. I thought so. I was just curious because there was all this talk about an incubator. I just inoculate them and throw them in a box in my closet and forget about em' for a good month or so. Thaks. L8r.

Incubators speeds up the process of Colonization.
You are having jars colonizing at a slower speed.
The best temp to colonize jars is 84 degrees.
So living in cold ass Seattle i have to use a Incubator.

My incubator is a Rubbermaid container with another container sitting in water.
4" to 5" of water.....with a 50 watt submersible aquarium heater.
The container inside the bigger container I place my 30 jars.
They colonize fully in 2 weeks....sometimes a little longer...depending on strain.
