So you'd rather listen to rappers that talk about shooting and drama, but haven't seen any part of it.
Because you know that shooting and drama is the #1 topic of most mainstream rap artists,
I respect someone more thats seem some of that, than some punk just spittin off,
Anyways hes not my favorite rapper, I'm just talking mainstream, who do you listen to?
I don't know anyone decent from europe, probably nobody good.
I'm more into triphop, and music I haven't heard.

Im sorry but just because 50 Cent got shot doesn't make him hard, it doesn't give him artistic integrity and it doesn't mean his music is any better than a genuinely talented rapper who's never heard a gunshot. In fact all it indicates is that he's probably an arsehole that someone wanted to kill.
He's a marketable corporate toy and 15 year old white kids are the target audience. Riding on a wave of fame propelled my little other than his image and his association with Eminem. He offers nothing new to rap music, his style is lethargic and monotonous and his lyrics are like something Paris Hilton would write.
Im not trying to flame people's taste in music, if you like it then you listen to it, it's just frustrating when real hip-hop gets tarred with the same brush as this diluted goat piss.
Tupac, Nas, Mobb Deep, Eminem, Biggie, NWA, Outkast, Murs, Eminem, South Central Cartel, Zion I, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Abdominal, Snoop, Dre... A lot of these artists have gone a bit pap lately but their early stuff is what it's all about. None of this "go shorty, it's your birthday" bollocks.
Fuck off back to yer club you arse candle

I feel that it's declining in quality, not popularity. I'm mostly an alternative/rock person but there's a lot of rap that I can really vibe with. It seems like all it is now is, "Smoke this, drive this, wear this, drink this..." You know what I mean? Not all rap is crap but lately its the same shit over and over.

these 'this music sucks' threads should automatically give you a 1 shroom rating from everyone...
obviously the person that started this thread doesn't know the first thing about rap or hip-hop so how could you start to respect their opinion or hold it valid??

no man, they're not all fake. the only thing they know is sellin coke. thats what they know, so thats what they talk about a lot. but that's not all they say, you're obviously just not listenin. i think some of the atlanta rappers are the best ones in the business right now and nobody ever gives them credit.
but yeah, there are a ton of shitty other people puttin out records that don't have any business in a studio. they just get high and say whatever the fuck they feel like, toss some money around, and it sells. just give somethin quality a try

LOL
I think the best MC's right now are a bunch of Brits... this year I've been listening to a lot of grime, and London MC's like Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Wiley, the Virus Syndicate, etc. are doing it better and more creatively than anyone stateside.

yeah, just because the general forms of music are all good, doesn't mean that all their specific forms are good.
for instance:
good rappers= eminem, tupac, biggie
crap rappers= 50 cent, ummm, lets see, who else? ah well, most rappers are pretty cool.
I just hate that rap turned from being about the proletarian struggle to being about 'what do I do with all this cash, I'm better than you are cuz I wear designer clothes, blah, blah, blah'
the second you give some black people money, they start acting just like the type of white people they supposedly despise.
blatant hypocrisy
thats why I say: "live ghetto, stay ghetto, be ghetto, the mentality of the ghetto. Stay with my peoples, make money with my peoples. Why you fightin me, mang? Fight them. You and me togteher, we'll slay em."
The ghetto is where all the real people's are at.
but I do like rock and techno and classical
its all good
lately I've been listening to a lot of GWAR
out of respect for my father
