Is there anything that a wicking cool mist humidifier can be used for in mycology? I got one of these for my Martha before I realized you needed a cool mist with an impeller.

*cough* who needs a cool mist w/ impeller? Not I sir! Not I! I use a shitty $20 wick cool mist modded w/ a tube to my martha for humidity + FAE (85-90% RH). Then i have another wick one on my shelf in my martha on a 45min on, 2 hour off timer. Keeps humidity 95%+ or so, without any soggyness or dripping like from an ultrasonic. No aborts either! I just simply couldnt find an impeller, eassily, but i could have gotten lucky with a good working wick one... I'd give it a shot.

I've never seen a wicking type humidifier produce over 70%. In addition, the wick/filters grow bacteria as fast as the dumpster at mc donalds. I just gave one away that was brand new and still in the box to a neighbor with a new baby. If they weighed more, they'd make a nice boat anchor. RR

They work fairly well in a 3 or 4 tier greenhouse, with PLANTS in it.
