Nice rainy day in Pacific North West Washington I've seen all the foci's and these look unlike them, they're beefier. A spore print is being taken right now, hopeing for jett black.
this compares hopefull sub. vs. the foci
 nice cluster
 close up
this one was found alone, not in the cluster.

2 or 3 inches high 1.5 inch diameter of cap spore print: pending bruse: haven't seen any yet
I truly hope this doesn't end up as another failed sub thread.

Well since your mushrooms have a mucous membrane (sticky pellicle) on the caps they are not Panaeolus. Amd they are3 most likely not psychoactive.
The caps look like baeocystis caps but then there is no bluing in the stem of the specimen.
They do have an umbo which can occur on Pan subs when the caps go flat and the edges turn up.
MOst likely Panaeolina foenisecii. There are four species of Panaeolina wWhith chocolate brown spores and spore prints. ANyway, nice photos.

mj, it was sticky, but i could not slip off a pellicle as i could with a cyan. Are not all pellicles able to peel off?
On this lone mushroom however there was no shiny pellicle at all
I'm taking a spore print now, and will take more photos of these guys. the cap looks more like the traditional subb. <img src=http://nepenthes.lycaeum.org/Plants/Images/Panaeolus.subbalteatus.jpg>

Looks interesting.. Not all mushrooms that have a pellicle can have it peeled off. Even some of the ones that do peel off don't come off too easy. Hard to tell if they are just really wet or if that stickiness is a common feature for that mushroom. Let us known about the spore print. Another thing, if the brown color fades to a lighter color as it dries let us know. Note if it dries from the center, slowly out to the edges or not. Hygrophanous is the term I believe.
