What song captures the experience?

It's well known that trying to communicate your personal psychedelic experience in words is very difficult to do adequately. But what about the way music is analogous to a trip? What song for you represents the experience of a particular psychedelic drug most effectively?

Phish's jam of reba would blow just about any music lovers mind.
If that same music lover were on psychedelics it might bring a tear to their eye. No lyrics, it can last up to 10 min. and is based on a two note structure. The whole jam is like a fractal that opens up and reveals its complexity somewhere in the middle only to return to simplicity again toward the end. The fact that this is the "bag it, tag it, sell it to the butcher in the store"-song even makes it kinda funny because the jam is so very serious. The contrast between the written parts and the jam is done that way so that you can feel the meaning of the jam for what it is. (im talking live phish, though the album version is very cool aswell) Its music for aliens. Much like tripping very hard, there are few words that can be used to accurately describe why it is so truely powerful and emotional. No words, just metaphysics. "the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value".
The other song I would mention Is off of Grant Greens "his majesty king funk" album called "Willow Weep For Me", song number two. Here is a sample of what this song is like(song 2); its the structure before it gets to be so amazing(possibly my favorite song ever, and certainly the most appropriet/trippiest song I have ever heard while tripping). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001EEP/102-6757618-9354528?v=glance&n=5174
If lsd was made of sound waves, this is what it would sound like. Same goes for shrooms too I guess, I just have a harder time equating anything I experience on them to complex maths. Same thing really though.

I love that song! (is listening to phish as I type) I'll make sure it's on the playlist when I trip.
From what my impression of DMT is like, it seems to me that divine moments of truth (ayahuasca) and a new way to say hooray (smoked) by shpongle would be similar to the experience. Can anyone with actual DMT experience tell me if that's an accurate comparison?

"a new way to say hooray" is a syd barrett quote, and I would imagine shpongles song called that is pretty interesting. Shpongle I would imagine, does work VERY well with smoked dmt and any of the classic substances for that matter, as does syd barretts song that contains that quote(like a circus tune made by a total nut). "Divine moments of truth" would be almost as much like the DMT experience as "My head feels like a frisbee"(also by shpongle). Shpongle unlike so many other bands actually tries to recreate the smoked DMT experience through music(they have done that many times). I think its really cool that there is a song off "are you shpongled" that actually last as long as the duration of a smoked dmt trip and you can hear someone smoking the stuff at the beginning. I have never used DMT along with any music(it creates its own), but if I was to try it with music I would probably take their que at the beginning of that song. Its about 6-7 min. long, go figure. I do love shpongle.

It starts out with the McKenna quote "so you take let us assume a third toke, looong and sloowww, you vapooorize and you take it in and in and in... and there is a sound like the crumpling of a plastic bread wrapper or the crackling of a flame and a tone, a tone, a mmmmmmmmMMMMMM... and there is this.... (explosion) there is a cheer... the gnomes have learned a new way to say hooooorrraaaaaayyyyyyy"....I always thought it was supposed to be a specific musical description of the DMT experience.

I see, but was not sure if you were talking about the floyd tune(also very trippy).
I think the sound is perfect for DMT and lasts just the right amount of time.
So it might be an accurate comparison for many people.

DJ Shadow - Blood on the Motorway
Intro to this song... "Be still now. I am with you. I am deep within you. You are at peace. You cannot be harmed. You will not suffer. Breathe deeply. Breathe in the healing love of the universe...and breathe out the sickness that has taken you. I am with you."
I highly recommend this song and the entire DJ Shadow discography.

Oh dude, you must really try to listen while you're tripping some of Global Underground's Electric Calm, Afterhours, vol 2, Exposures... anything mixed by The Forth. It's a havenly experience... and perfect to go with your feelings.

The entirety of Shpongle's "Are You Shpongled?" album is definitely the closest I've yet to come across to portraying the experience of mushrooms. Maybe that's just because I happened to come across both mushrooms and this album at around the same time in my life though.

theres this mystical part of Ozric Tentacles - Dots Thoughts starts a bout 4:53 in the song and goes on for a minute or two. at first I feel like im following a ball of light or a beam of energy, and then it leads me to a cliff edge, and the second part of the mystical music comes on bubbling up from deep within my chest, and it brings me to a plateau where I feel like im overlooking thousands of miles and thousands of living creatures and energies and life all over earth. Audio LSA.
