stick with it!
also you should take classes. I suppose you can learn it from books but it's best to have someone to look at you and correct your postures.

I"ve been wanting to start as well. Where do I begin? How accepting are instructors to people who don't have the slightest idea of what to expect, what to do, etc....?
I probably should just go down there and find out. There's a place right down the street called Corepower yoga.

I too have been looking towards yoga.
I would really like to reshape my life, and practicing yoga seems a very viable option.
Picked up a good book called "Journey into power"....the author escapes me at this moment though
-------------------- -------------------------------- " If the sky were to suddenly open up there would be no law. There would be no rule. There would only be you and your memories... the choices you've made, and the people you've touched. If this world were to end there would only be you and him and no-one else. " .............. "MAN! You know there aint no such thing as left over crack!"

that's what instructors are there for! find a beginners yoga class.
the two i have attended are "daily practice" which is fairly demanding because sun salutations are hard for my body.
and "casual yoga" which is quite a bit easier.
it doesn't matter if you can't do anything, in the process of not being able to do asanas you will get in shape so that eventually you'll realize that you CAN do them.
it's a complete and entirely gradual process.
they'll tell you how to do it. if they see you doing something wrong they'll fix it. they'll instruct everyone on how to change to different poses...... and the rest is just your own progress.
I miss my yoga teacher. I kind of love her. Or was trying to until summer came about. If I get a job and a new place I'll be taking her summer class.
Our minds kind of melted together once but it was scary and I pulled back from it. She's sent me energy before, too.
With an open heart chakra the boundaries between you and other people are rather slim.

When I started practicing yoga I spent a lot of time watching videos.... I found this to be very beneficial before starting to go to classes as it helped my body to be more flexible and accepting of the different postures my teacher wanted me to perform. When you do elect to go to classes, I would definately recommend going to a beginning yoga kind of thing. Where I went they actually had a series of 5-6 classes specifically for beginning yoga and in that situation the teacher was prepared and expecting to have to offer a lot of advice and give each student a lot of help. You can just go straight into your typical yoga classes but understand there are going to be things you can not do and it most likely will be frustrating...... McKenna..... if you wanna know a real nice place to take some beginning yoga classes PM me..... I think the place I started is pretty close to you..... I could probably even show you some easier postures myself....
