* Habitat: pasture, in the Caribbean, on horse manure * Characteristics of the gills: Grey black gills * Characteristics of the stem: white, silky, hollow, and thin * Characteristics of the cap:white, silky feel to it, * Spore print color: In development but it looks like it's going to be black * Color that the mushroom bruises: light brown * Scent of the mushroom: mushroomy * Anything else you might find important: Looks just like the pictures that came up when I did a google search for "Copelandia Cyanescens"
Here's a link of pics I took.
Please help me identify this species. I see them all the time when I'm hunting and have wondered for a long time now if they are copes. They don't seem to bruise blue though..

By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death." DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis L. the way you have broken the stems, they would be bruised blue (fast) if they were cope cyans. Keep looking....

Is it poisonous? Or edible?

looks like a pan antillarum or something close to it but I'm not going to ID it for you. IF they are ants they aren't poisonous. I don't eat mushrooms that aren't psychoactive because the taste doesn't agree with me.

I've never heard of a Copelandia mushroom growing from horse manure (in the wild at least).
And if your mushrooms are not staining a bluish color, then you are not finding Copelandia cyanescens.
Sounds like you may have found the non-active Panaeolus antillarum (very commonly found on horse dung).

Mr. P... You found some nice Cubes and Copes last season from Horse Dung.. I remember that was a killer find... Copes would have blued all the way up and out of the park with that size a specimen..
I will also agree that those look like Pan Antiserum to me..

I find these all the time in cow fields. I've eaten many with no psychoative effects. I like the taste though :P

Agreed ....Ive always thought them a great edible just sauteed in butter etc........and also there incredibly huge size and thickness for a Pan sometimes as wide as your hand and can quikly collect a huge amount for pasta in a short time also the solid stem can have useful texture applications in cooking and relatively easy to ID.....
