#1
do you think poppy seeds could be sprouted in a (for lack of a beter word) plastic thing that tomato plants come in (indoors) with about 2 or 3 seeds per cube.
the reason: i was trying to find a way to transplant with out messing with the root system in any way.

#2
could you let them grow untill they are root bound in the same ice cube tray things

the above post is for fun, (entirly fictional)

Poppies do not handle being moved very well. Baby started hers outside........some have used peat pots to get them started inside then replant the whole pot when ready outside.

Yes and no-do not let them get root bound.

I always started poppies out in those little cube tray seed starter kits under flourescents.
Once they reached .5" or so, they were thinned and at 1-2" I transplanted them to a larger container (5 gallon bucket. One time I transplanted the same set of plants 3 times from smaller to larger containers. I've never had a transplant problem with poppies.

But others have, so you may want to start in a seed starter and go directly to a 5 gallon bucket.

1 plant per 5 gallon bucket? or the whole mini-greenhouse?
