You know what I respect
    #5691895 - 05/30/06 06:37 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Athletes, who once drafted by a team, they remain loyal to it for the duration of their professional tenure whether their team is a playoff contender or bound straight for the lottery heap any given year. Allen Iverson, Karl Malone, John Stockton, and Kevin Garnett come to mind in the NBA. These guys gave/give it all to their tribe until the day their knees shut down.

The Man Show is hosted by flunkies who never made it to a professional league

How can you call them flunkies?

Did you ever see the episode where the petitioned by the statue of liberty to make it more scantily clad?  It was hilarious.  Plus, they have girls jumping on trampolines, and running around half naked in the audience.  I thought guys liked that shit?

I don't know what those guys are getting at. Karl Malone was one of the greatest power fowards of all time. He and Stockton were like Batman and Robin

Doubt what highly? The part about the girls on trampolines?  Believe me, they're there, and they do splits.  And there's girls in costumes (barely) in the audience.  They call them juggies I believe.  I may be a girl, but I  the Man Show.  Shame on you for not.

Karl Malone? Are we talking about the Karl Malone that abandoned the Jazz and John Stockton so that he could go play with Shaq and Kobe in LA?

YES!!

I miss that show, I'm pretty sure it sucks now, right?

My favorite definitely had to be the statue of liberty one, where they passed around a picture of it in a bikini looking all slutty, and lots of people were actually signing this petition to have her changed to look like that.  There was this old guy who seemed to get all aroused checking out the proposal

I was really hoping you wouldn't bring the game up.  Beckett obviously didn't have great stuff tonight, and you guys are hitting unbelievably well, pretty much up and down the lineup.  I feel bad cheering when Hillenbrand gets a hit against my Sox, but he was my fvaorite player while he was here, and I still love him.  I met him at the Nomar Bowl like 5-6 years ago - one of the nicest guys ever

Yeah, the White Sox just came out of Toronto. Those boys can hit. We lost 2 out of 3 to them. We weren't even pitching bad in the series, they were just hitting that good. If they ever get their pitching in order...watch out American League.

It can't hurt Chacin that he has the most run support in the league, either.  I'm getting sick of playing you guys.

Basilides (I may have spelled that wrong) Just because he left for a final tenure, or whether Stockton retired, he still left his original team for money and more importantly the chance to be on a winning team, I'm guessing.  Therefore, he should not be included on your "faithful til the end" list.

He went to LA for a title. He's said as much himself.

Someone I always hated was Reggie Miller, but I respect him because he stayed in Indiana for his entire career. And believe me, I hate Reggie Miller more than anyone, so that's not easy to say.

He's just someone that always didn't appeal to me. You know, like someone you watch and don't like, but you don't really know why? I mean, he's cocky but so is Rasheed and Sheed is my favorite player so it's not that.

I guess it's just mostly because I live in Indiana and have never been a Pacers fan. Miller being the star of the team, just got disliked the most. He was a great player though, and like I said I respect him for his loyalty.

That was one of those movies that was actually thought provoking, and stayed on my mind long after it was over.  I love movies like that

I saw X-Men 3 this weekend in theatres, loved that too - but not exactly thought provoking or deep...more just lots of action and killing  :smirk:  Both have their perks.  Have you seen it yet?

PS - I fucking hate Julian Tavarez.  Aside from the fact that he looks like someone hit his face on fire and then tried to put it out with a fucking axe, he's just a shitty pitcher and has a lousy attitude.  And he punches like a goddamn girl.

V for vendetta (the graphic novel and film) are both very good, but half is ripped from 1984

i haven't seen the movie, but i have read the novella (1984, not V)

the movie, which was made in the year 1984, actually went to the extent of filming certain scenes on the day they take place in the book

that's just neat

didnt read the whole thread but out of the 4 u listed.. only 1 id consider loyal.. and thats john stockton.. malone did leave, he went to the lakers, for the sole purpose of trying to put a ring on his finger... KG is trying to get out of minnesota as im typing this.. and AI is kinda stuck in philly seeing he is the franchise player.. ok maybe ill give u credit for AI, but im sure he wants out of there

Elton Brand has been with the clippers since he was drafted.. maybe 6 years ago? just a guess.. hopefully king james will always be a Cav, i couldnt imagine him anywhere else

Brand was with the bulls at the beginning of his career. I think that's where he was drafted.

The loyalty thing is the reason I like Favre so much. Even though he was on Atlanta at first, he didn't actually play, so I'll count him as a Packer for his entire career.

AI I know for sure has some sense of loyalty to Philadelphia.

There's also Patrick Ewing. Although he did leave the Knicks at the end of his career, it was more business-related since he went to Orlando which was obviously not a contender for anything.

I didn't know KG was trying to get out of Minnesota. I don't understand these guys, one would think that being remembered and beloved by your fans was more important than riding the coattails of someone else's hard work just to get a ring. If he ditches the Wolves he'll be regarded as a traitor by many

It's like Michael Finley. That guy was a Mav for most of his career, then he ditches them for San Antonio before he gets too old. Although the irony of this year's playoffs is probably obvious to him.

Derek Jeter. Bernie Williams. Jorge Posada. Mariano Rivera.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

I bet most Bulls fans are sick over Krause trading Brand for Chandler. I remember Krause saying something like Brand had reached his ceiling....and that Chandler and Curry had "Open growth plates" or some shit. What a disaster Krause became after Jordan left.

Reggie Miller is the quintessential "being loyal to his team" guy.

I don't know if they count exactly. It isn't like there's a threat those cats are earning under market value in the name of loyalty. Them's fools is gettin' PAID.
