Protecting against Contamination

I have serval BRF jars that I inoculated around ten days ago. Most of them are showing some good growth. One, however, has developed a green fungus near the top of the jar. I was just wondering: now that the jars are already inoculated, are there any good steps I can take to reduce the chance of contamination in the other jars? I have placed little masking tape "tents" over each hole on the jars that leave them breathable but protect them from the air directly above. Are there any other similar measures I could take?

the dry verm layer in a pf-tek style jar is the only really effective precaution you should take. once the jars are made up and colonizing, there's not much else you can (or need to do) to protect better against contams that wouldn't otherwise hinder gas exchange.
otherwise, contams happen sometimes... just a fact of life, even under the best conditions it happens on occasion. make sure you're sterilizing completely, and pay more attention to your inoculation - the environment you do it in and how you handle the needle. mold spores are killed pretty easily in sterilization so chances are if you got some green in a jar near the top, it probably made its way in during inoculation.
other than that, follow the advice above and chuck the one with green in it. toss it somewhere far from the rest of your growing area, preferably outside, and be careful not to breathe it as it may give off a puff of spores when you open it (and ya don't want those in your house)... wash the jar out well or run through a dishwasher and you're ready to try again.

I was wondering if you poked the syringe threw the dry vemiculite or just innoc on top. Go threw the dry vermiculite and down the side of the jar. I made this mistake my first time thats why I ask.

No, i inoculated past the casing layer. I'm not quite sure how it got contaminated.

I wasn't implying that I wanted to keep that jar. I just wanted to know if there was anything else to do at this point to protect the others.

That's sort of what I figured. I'll just continue with the other jars as normal.
Extra question: is it bad to pick up the jars while they're colonizing? Should they be left sationary? It's just that it's difficult to observe the growth sometimes without holding the jars.
