humidity question?
    #5690996 - 05/30/06 02:52 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

so i have a thermometer with a sensor that is in my fruiting chamber during the colonizing stage i had sterilized verm to keep the moisture in the middle of the casing and then i compensated for the absorption out of the top by spraying regularly 4-6 times a day with FAE the humidity has stayed at about 25-40 with the verm. now that one of my casings in my fruiting chamber is fruiting i swapped out the verm or perlite and ran silicon hose around the bottom of my fruiting chamber with pin head holes at each inch point and then connected to a fish tank bubbler. i did this today like 3 hours ago and the humidity is still at 25 I'm worried that my pins aren't getting enough humidity i have near saturation almost all day but the humidity is still only around 25-30 on average. the walls in my fruiting chamber are always moist but not to the point were it is dripping. I'm trying to keep condensation off of the lid to prevent drip age.

am i OK with my strategy will my GT mature with the humidity and temp is always around 75-79 max and my casing is always near sat. am i just being a worry wort or what should i do to raise humidity? i cant afford a cool mist right now but my plan is to purchase it soon after i can harvest the first flush.

Thank you
Austin

p.s this is my second attempt and i don't want to fudge it up again.

Just use perlite.

Maybe your hygrometer is broken.

i'd have to agree on that one. any aquarium store usualy has the same meter for about 10-15 bucks that works fine for me. the way he describes his fc sounds just like mine so i would have to guess the humid is fine just the meter.

i have a heating pad underneath the fc and then its about 3 feet long 2 feet deep and foot half wide its all clear and i have silocon tubing on the bottom with needle holes all through out and then about enough perlite to cover the hose and then some so probly 1/4 inch to about 3/4 inch in some places deep with perlite ( should i add more? )

confused.

If you are using perlite properly, your humidity is at least 97%.
No question.
However, most people seem to use about 2" of damp perlite.
Are you using a coolmist and perlite?
Your hygrometer likely sucks.

I doubt your humidity is at 25%, no matter what your setup is.

Salt test that sucker.
