Do the mushrooms speak to you?

I was listening to a Terence Mckenna lecture on mp3 "Ayahuasca and its recipes" and at around the 43" mark he states.
"... enough people have experienced this now that we can make a generalisation about it, the mushrooms talk! they speak to you in your native tongue, and at conversational speed and it's the damnedest thing. until it happens to you, you can't imagine what people are talking about. Once it happens to you, you know exactly what they mean. The mushroom is animate, and articulate and also kind of extraterrestrial ..."
Has anyone here experienced this?
Interesting trend developing. The majority of post say the mushrooms don't speak while the majority of the poll takers say that they do.
Being a relative newbie, I have only just touched the surface of the psychadelic experience and all of my revelations come in the form of an internal dialogue. I would really like to hear some background on the occasions when you had conversations with the little brothers, i.e. dose, set and setting, and any additional actives that may have expanded the experience.
cheers

I have had a mushroom (one of the ones that I found and ate) talk to me before. It just popped out of nowhere, on my right side. Its eyes opened and it started talking to me. I couldn't understand what it was saying......but it was talking to me none the less.
I think it was telling me, the secrets on how to grow them. Since I started growing them shortly after this conversation.

Well I certainly hear voices when I take mushrooms...I wouldn't say the mushrooms are 'speaking' to me though, more like I'm fucked in the head and hearing voices that aren't there.

I've heard voices, I've just usually been able to identify them as voices I recognize. Again, I'm more scientific than spiritual, to me these voices aren't mushrooms talking to me, they're a result of brain signals getting mixed up and the abnormal way your brain's being forced to function. Nerves start firing off, maybe due to a change in emotions telling you to be happy, the signal gets mixed up, and gets reassembled from an emotion/thought into speech picked up by our brain as audio input

Scientific, spiritual... whatever, I love that 'shrooms talk. No matter how it happens, brain synapses or if it actually is the mushroom (which I don't necessarily believe or really doubt either), no other drug behaves in the same way that they do. I get subconscious insights that seem to originate from a second party, and I love that. Especially 'cause they're always giving me such positive advice like eat right, exercise, love God and your fellow man, forgive yourself and others, people don't think you're weird... stuff like that.

id say ya during my first trip i blacked out for idk how long and when i came back to consciousness i was across the room from my two friends who were also tripping for the first time. everything was hazy and a voice keep telling me i was in Einsteins room. i felt way abnormal and started getting scared so i just scooted across the room and starting vibing with my friends again and the funny thing is they didn't even notice that i moved.

F*ck yeah they speak to a person.
Me, they spoke to me. They told me how to save Earth 5 years ago, and i'v dedicated my life to manifesting those images.
Last weekend was only the 2nd time I have dosed that hard and they backed it all up:) Very clear internal dialogue. Walking at night time. Being in powerful natural locations. Meditating and listening to your breath.. your hearbeat.. asking important questions.. what's the best question that I can ask? And asking better quesions, still.
Now, I am venturing to openly state that mushrooms are definitely extraterrestrial intelligence and that a 'trip' is for all intensive purposes as useful a metaphor as 'an alien visitation' as any metaphor you're likely to encounter.
Better yet, as you begin unconsciously engineering even more powerful metaphors of your own.. now, isn't amazing to look back on this question with a thousand new psychdelics references only to know that you have just begun?
and then laugh so loud you feel it rip through your heart, and the walls around you.. and into every particle of every cell of every proton of every piece of existence and non-existence all at once, and paradoxiaclly neither..
and.. blah! To hell with it all. God laughing at himself..

yes, but the way it speak to me is not in voices at all.... its more of a foreign feeling, or telepathic energy, that fills you up with knowledge.

I've heard some theories before about the mushrooms being an extraterrestrial race come to earth to bond in a symbiotic relationship to any organic life form comprehensive enough to understand, or at least try interpret, their infinite wisdom. Sounds fun, but I'm not exactly sure I believe this theory just yet.
I've never had any experiences with the mushies talking to me, but I've still got a lot to learn so maybe they will one day. Until then they are just a fungus to me.

I've spoken to and seen many entities whilst on high dosage mushroom trips - some specifically identifying themselves as the mushroom/psilocybin being(s) some more abstract and ellusive.
I choose to remain undecided as to who/what they are.
Interdimensional beings? Reflections of my subconscious?
All I know is that I am a better person for having met and conversed with them - having quit hard drug addiction, alcoholism and generally become happier and more creative since I started regularly taking mushrooms over five years ago.
The mushrooms speak to me on so many levels, even when I don't understand what they're saying I at least think I know that on some tier of consciousness I am taking on board what they mean.

the way i experience it, is sometimes evil presences try and seduce me but i am always resistant, then a very divine, all good spirit shares knowledge with me... its so hard to explain with a human brain. ,:P
i once saw a dna helix made up of pearly white light, and dark cold black with pupils through the helix..... it made me realize out dna is made up of evil and good kind of like ying and yang.... they are intertwined, and every organism has this, which is like gods gift of free choice.
mushrooms have taught me many things, through telepathic ways, and the processing of visions after trips.

Cool thread. Hey have any of you guys heard of Vaclav Halek? He's a composer that says he hears his music from mushrooms. He doesn't ingest them, he just says he can walk through the woods and hear them sing. Amazing

mushrooms always speak to me in a really weird way, I'm not saying necessarily voices but strange yet not strange thoughts that seem to drift along and i have no control over them. For this reason i prefer LSD unless i want to completely let go, still it makes me question why younger kids will do mushrooms but not lsd, where i find mushrooms fucking intense as hell. I can't even explain mushrooms to a person that has never done them, to me it's honestly like no control of your thoughts, I haven't had a bad trip before since i know before taking them that I will have no control.

I've had intense thoughts while on mushrooms and some profound realizations about my own life but I can't say if they have ever "spoken" to me. I mean, I've never heard a voice in my head while tripping that wasn't my own voice. So in that sense no I haven't. To be fair though I've only tripped like 4 or 5 times so I don't have a lot of experience.

This an interesting topic of discussion. Maria Sabina said the mushrooms stopped speaking her language after enough westerners started using them recreationally:
Quote:
The influx of interest in sacred mushrooms had a devastating effect. In Maria Sabina's words - 'Before Wasson, I felt that the saint children - elevated me. I don't feel like that anymore. The force has diminished.' 'These last few years anyone looks at the children - and no care is taken in gathering them'. 'They take the children - at any time and in any place. They don't do it at night or under the direction of the Wise Ones and they don't use them to cure any sickness either'. In the words of the older sabio , Apolonio Terran... 'What is terrible is that the sacred mushroom no longer belong to us. The language has been spoiled and is indecipherable to us ... "What is this new language like?" "Now the mushrooms speak English! Yes it is the tongue the foreigners speak" "What is this change in the language due to?" "The mushrooms have a divine spirit; they have always had it for us but the foreigner arrived and frightened it away ..." "Where was this divine spirit frightened to?" "It wanders without direction in the atmosphere, it goes along in the clouds (Estrada 91).

I have actually experienced my internal dialogue tell me things which I wasn't thinking about or imagining.
I saw a crazy vision of the creation of the universe. The voice in my head began describing to me what I was seeing. It told me of how our creator is a master mathematician, and that math is the force behind all of creation.
It was most strange because the voice in my head wasn't unfamiliar, it was just telling me unfamiliar things.
So do the mushrooms speak? In my opinion, yes.
But, I would say all of life is speaking to you, you just have to notice it.

To me the voices are of God, and spirits. Whether they are good or bad, they are definetly not of my own mind. I remember one of my most vivid trips, where I called one a "dick" in a joking manner.... then they asked me to repeat myself and when I tried I instantly threw up. ( I was in the bathroom) They laughed and made me laugh when I realized just who I was talking too.
check my sig.
--------------------
"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand."

Is it supposed to be a contrast or a tie? like does it refer to good/give, evil/take... or is it more about the mixing of the two to find balance sort of thing... action/reaction idea. I DUNNO!

yes....they do sort of speak to me..... they give me a understanding somewhat of nature. i took a nature walk about a month ago while partaking of some shrooms and it was like a understanding that i had that the earth provided the mushrooms to me as an aid in understanding and communication tool with nature. it was all clear at that moment that nature and i were at one and that in order to more understand nature, shrooms should be eaten. <<<i know sounds crazy, but i understand it all.

Yes I sometimes very much feel like they are speaking to me. But more than that what I realize it's in my mind. My mind is communicating with me. These hallucinations are happening in my mind. Of course it feels real if these beauttiful images are communcating with me, my mind is creating them inspired by mushrooms. Other times I have sudden thoughts, or realizations that are profound. It feels as if I am being fed something. Am I? ARE WE?

It was most strange because the voice in my head wasn't unfamiliar, it was just telling me unfamiliar things.
So do the mushrooms speak? In my opinion, yes.
Fuck man! i had a similar experience. God spoke to me-it was a real dialog. then he let all the universe disappear to create it once again.at this stage of consciousness i could see several dimension also how he created time.it was the strongest bone-splitting experience in my lifetime!
i think at lower doses you can "feel" some one talks to you; it´s not a real talk and most of the communications is somehow empathic. at higher levels you will hear the voices for real!just try!

On higher doses it feels like you swap vantage points with wherever this voice is coming from, imo. After a brief 'fall' out of 'reality'(?) {ego loss/death}
Christ, the Buddha's got me feelin all ghoulishly Godlike.

That's awesome that you had a similar experience. I totally agree that it was one of the most, jaw dropping, life changing experiences I have ever had. I mean, I can't look at life the same ever since.
I seem to find humor in the strangest of places, like every weird coincidence makes me laugh. Sometimes it's just too perfect, ya know?
I totally know what you mean about the empathic "feeling" on lower doses. I have had it happen to me many times, perceiving the feelings of others, even animals. I can relate to dogs unbelievably well on low doses of mushrooms. They just seem to know that you are on there level, and can understand them, so they just get super cozy with you. I dunno, maybe I just love the hell out of dogs.
I'd be really interested to hear you elaborate on your experience, any other insights, or thoughts you had later because of it. For me it seemed to really shape some of my experiences in the future, and really effect the way I perceive the world.
If you want to, feel free to shoot me a PM.

I have had 3 of those "Meeting God" trips, this is what i wrote briefly about the first 2 before.
Quote:
ive had 2 of those kinda trips, luckily i only really made an ass out of myself during one. Both times I thought I had died and figured out what life really was(a series of events created by your own imagination to determine what the best experiences you get to choose to live out eternity in). And everyone who was "real" during these trips coincidentally said things (unknowingly) that played on what was going in my head so well.
It was one of the scariest things of my life, thinking I was dead and was being forced to choose memories and experiences(and thus limited people to experience them with) to live out for eternity. Also thinking that my imagination had caused the people in "my world" to feel the pain that is real in life. I felt this tremendous guilt. It was also one of the most beautiful times of my life, because I could call upon every good memory i have had during my life and relive that experience, instantly, right then.
One of the craziest things was that as i was making my choice, the things happening in reality futher convinced me that this was real. Like I would ask my friends for help, and they would say "you have to figure this out on your own". We also happened to be at a house in front of a very busy street, and every time i started to think of other memories it would sound like the world outside of the room was morphing and changing. this was really just cars speeding by and revving there engines to try and look cool on a friday night. Also when i had thought of living out my life without the current friends i was with, i ran out to the room where they were and they had dissapeared(really to get pizza). I thought i had made them not exist anymore(since they were figments of my imagination).
I kept trying to put off this choice I had to make and eventually my friends came to get me to tell me "its time now", they really meant to go home, but i interpreted this as " you haven't chosen so now its over. I had to accept this, i followed them and kept asking "really, now?". We got into the car and i literally thought i was driving off to get hit by a car or something and stop existing.
Part 2 of this trip came two weeks later, when i thought i died again, and I "met God". I learned that the along with my other understanding of what life is, the other purpose is to try and understand what it would be like to be God. How hard that must be, and i realized I could never understand it, and I also came to realize that my dying wish would be to try and make the world a better place for everyone. Earlier in this night i battled with my own personal demons, and when i would have bad thoughts about the things i had done wrong in my life such extreme experiences would be had. Such as i saw my body literally melt/disintegrate away as i decayed on the floor, until i was able to justify life with more good thoughts and good things i could do for others. There were many more intense occurances such as this, more than i could name.
The most recent trip where I again "died", I came to the conclusion that I had to better my life and the life of the people i care about. I do think that psychedelics talk to you in a way. More so that they let you "talk to yourself" and deal with your own issues. Personally on this last trip i dealt with my own issues about being healthier, friendlier to more people and better to the environment.
I portrayed this as some "God" like figure telling me this but i really believe it was the drug not allowing me to ignore these personal faults any longer. I find that when you are on psychedelics you cannot lie to yourself. Most people shrug off things and lie to themselves often in life, which creates stress and doesn't resolve the issue. I believe psychedelics are best used as a tool for resolving these issues, along with having some fun!
